Today, we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day by reflecting on his impactful 1965 visit to Jamaica, where he delivered a powerful sermon at the University of the West Indies. Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. arrived at Palisadoes Airport and was honoured with the Key to the City of Kingston. Addressing graduates at UWI Mona, he shared a heartfelt sentiment, declaring, "In Jamaica, I feel like a human being!"
Jamaica College Shines at Robotics Championship in Florida and Wins Award
The Jamaica College (JC) Robotics Team shone at the South Florida FIRST LEGO League Regional Championship on January 18, 2025, at Palm Beach State College. Competing against 39 top teams, JC proudly represented Jamaica as the event’s sole Jamaican team.
The team earned the "Best Recovery Award" for their resilience after their robot was damaged during airport transit. "The boys rebuilt and reprogrammed the robot overnight, impressing the judges," said Faculty Advisor Mrs. Kimberley Ormsby. They also achieved the highest score for their presentation.
