10 Things I Can't Wait To See At Advertising Week New York 2022

Advertising Week New York starts on Monday.

With more than 1200 speakers and 500 events across the week, there really is something for everyone. If you haven’t made plans to come yet and you can get to New York, join us there. (And if you can’t make it to New York, you can still take part online!)

I’ve picked 10 things I’m personally really excited about for this year.

  • The Future is Female awards, presented by Warner Bros. Discovery . This awards is really special to me. No entry fees. Open to women who can be leaders at any level. Sometimes chief executives, sometimes chief marketers, sometimes marketing managers or agency executives. You can be a leader at all levels. One of this year’s shortlist has an endorsement from Beyonce, so these candidates are pretty incredible.

  • We have some educational and inspirational sessions about topics that really matter. One I can’t wait to see is this one in association with Gold House which is about accurate representation for the AAPI community. It features Padma Lakshmi, author, presenter and producer, along with Instagram’s most fashionable Eva Chen among some other incredible names.

  • The AW Accelerate start-up program has got bigger and better this year. In association with HARTBEAT , this mentoring initiative for start ups is now running for three days. Day one focuses on woman-led start ups; day two on Black-led start ups; and day three on everything martech. Thank you to all the industry mentors and start ups who come to collaborate and create something special with us.
  • The New Business of Entertainment. Thank you so much to the wonderful people at United Talent Agency who have put together a whole host of programming on the theme of The New Business of Entertainment. They’ll be bringing speakers like author, model and brand owner Emily Ratajkowski to talk about her new podcast; actor Kenan Thompson to talk about his career; and chefs Jose Andres and Joshua Weissman to talk about food and culture.

  • We will have some lighthearted fun with the men otherwise known as the Impractical Jokers and their team to close out the show on Thursday afternoon. I really hope their dares are not going to lead our Health and Safety team to have nightmares. But looking forward to hearing them talk about laughter, content and what engages audiences.
  • Great shows. We hope you have some fun at Advertising Week too, alongside the learning, whether you’re joining the invite-only OnStage with YouTube featuring Diddy and a host of friends including Thuy and Ari Lennox or coming along to our wrap party with our friends in honor of disability advocacy organization Creative Spirit in the historic Williamsburg Music Hall. The act for our invite-only Wrap Party will be next week's surprise!

  • We love to do things differently at Advertising Week. One of my favourite initiatives for the folks in Chicago or London or LA who cannot join live in person is the Amazon Ads Studio, which is a four day TV broadcast from our venue at The Market Line. Hosted by Emmy-award winning Dhomonique Murphy , you can see both live events from the in-person Advertising Week New York but also some just-for-streaming sessions from the likes of Gary Vaynerchuk , Arianna Huffington, author Dan Harris and performer Jadakiss. Also watch out for a top secret announcement of a music artist’s new single and video.
  • Advertising Week isn’t just about culture and business. It’s also about the capital underpinning the way we work. We have a fantastic summit on all things investment featuring The 98 – a fund designed to change the fact that women-led businesses receive just 2% of all venture capital funds. And Michael Harris, Global Head of Capital Markets for the NYSE sits down with David Doft , Chief Financial Officer of Emerald to answer key questions about the financial market today. From what to expect for the IPO market in 2023 and beyond, to what's next for ESG; it's a conversation you won't want to miss.
  • If you’re finding the sheer choice on the program overwhelming, why not join us for a moment to recharge with and RSVP for our Meditation Mornings or come along each day to our Movement Breaks with New York’s hottest dance studio Forward_Space. Whether you like to find a moment to centre yourself peacefully or get your body in action, there is something for you. Visit one of our partner activations serving fresh drinks, candy, tacos, paninis, pretzels and more. At 5:30pm each night, swing by AWConnects, our networking happy hour located in the cafe area at The Market Line. Mingle with fellow attendees and wind down with a glass of wine (or two).?
  • Announcements! We have lots planned so stay tuned. Join us in the world of Web3 and NFT to win rewards all week through your actions while visiting. There will be new product announcements, new partnership announcements, more details about the upcoming Advertising Week Africa, the winner of our annual mascots Walk Of Fame competition (one of the most hotly fought contests on earth) and much more. Be there in person or online and be part of the week.

PHEW. I hope to see you there!
