10 Tasks To Level Up Your API Testing Skills

An application programming interface (API) is a bunch of routines, protocols, and tools for building software and applications. If you’ve not tested an API, it’s likely you will at some point in your career as a tester. So here are 10 tasks to level up your API testing skills.

1. Share a resource on HTTP and describe how it works. Come up with an analogy to simplify it
2. Find five API testing experts to follow on LinkedIn
3. Search for an interesting article on API testing and share your thoughts about it on The Club
4. Begin reading an API testing-related book and share something you’ve learned by the end of next month
5. Find three resources that describe status codes. Create a summary of your findings
6. Compare and contrast mocking, stubbing, and faking
7. Share an example of an HTTP Header and explain what it does
8. Dig into the difference between a POST and a PUT
9. Research three API testing tools and try each for 60 minutes?
10. Find and share a helpful video about API testing.
