10 Strategies to Reduce Procrastination and Boost Productivity

?

There are occasions when putting things off might be harmful to our growth and goals. Although it's not an unusual concept, many people suffer from procrastination daily.?

?

Today, we will talk about methods that can help you overcome procrastination and increase your overall level of Productivity.

?

  • Divide the Work into Smaller Pieces.?

By Emmanuella Amah

Extensive work might frequently appear to be overwhelming. It can be made more accessible by breaking it into more manageable and smaller pieces. As soon as you begin ticking off these smaller tasks, you'll feel like you're progressing and gaining momentum.

?

  • Follow the "2-Minute Rule,"?which states that you should do it immediately if a work can be finished in less than two minutes. This straightforward idea can significantly reduce the number of unimportant tasks that build up throughout the day, whether you're writing an email, cleaning your bed, or taking a note.?
  • Assign Priorities to Jobs:?You can organise tasks according to their importance and urgency using the Eisenhower Box or the ABCD technique. When you are aware of what requires your immediate attention, you are better able to concentrate your efforts and make the most of your energy.
  • ?Establish Clearly Defined Deadlines:?Doing so can instil a sense of urgency in you, even if one isn't directly offered to you. First, ensure that your expectations are reasonable, and then follow through by holding yourself accountable.
  • Eliminate as many distractions as possible:?the world is packed with them! Create a dedicated working environment that is free from possible interruptions. Consider adopting methods such as the Pomodoro Technique, in which you work diligently for 25 minutes before pausing for 5 minutes.

?

  • Tell someone about your objective, or even better, write it down:?

This will help you self-commit and make it a public declaration. Pledging, especially one made public, can be an extremely effective way to motivate oneself.

?

  • Give Yourself Rewards:?Build a system of rewards for yourself to use when you complete chores or stay on track. It might be anything as simple as a snack or a brief break from work. The power of positive reinforcement can completely transform a situation.

?

  • Visualise the End Result:?Think about how you will feel when the task ends. Imaging the outcomes that will come from your efforts can be a powerful motivational tool in its own right.

?

  • Retain Your Administration:?A disorganised working place can lead to a disorganised mentality. You should get your workspace organised, and you should also consider keeping a daily to-do list. It may be gratifying to finish a task and put it behind you.

?

  • Self-Reflection:?Evaluate why you're putting things off. Is it a fear of coming up short? Or is the assignment possibly less important than you initially believed it to be? Gaining an understanding of the 'why' can assist you in addressing the root cause of the problem.

?

In Conclusion, Remember to keep in mind that procrastination affects everyone occasionally. How they deal with and win over these feelings sets successful people apart. If you implement these strategies and remain persistent, your Productivity will significantly increase.

?

I wish you a proactive week ahead!

Until next week...

This is very insightful I want to also add here that one one crucial issue That is hitherto overlooked in reducing Procrastination in the workplace is STRESS. STRESS is the negative reactions we get due to extra pressure at work and other conditions Of work we can not cope with, when stress Is not prevented or managed in the work Place, it results in anxiety. Stress in itself is not a sickness but it leads to emotional, behavioural and health issues like anxiety, headache, heartattack and even death. The workplace implication of this is that When a gets stressed up, he or she is unable to be in his best, the end point is procrastination he focuses his energy thinking of the Consequences of his actions than to focus On given tasks, this results to poor performance and low productivity. In summary, any organisation having its eyes On optimum performance must have zero tolerance for stress making the welfare of It's workforce first in their priority checklist. Micromanagement may also affect worker's Performance resulting in procrastination.
