Hello,
And a very warm welcome to the 13th edition of my Linkedin Newsletter.
It's certainly been a busy couple of weeks here. I've been plotting and planning for The Social Media Away Day with Lucy Brandram onboarding new clients, and working on my website.
Today I am sharing with you what exactly is involved in a social media strategy and an overview of the 10-step process I develop with clients both in a group setting and on a one-to-one basis.
So, here it is.
- Decide on your objectives: Consider what you want and need in social media for your business. And how much time, money and resource you have to dedicate to getting those results.
- Review your progress so far: Your social media and website analytics are a goldmine of information. By reviewing your progress, you will be able to understand what's working and what you should be sharing.
- Research your audience and develop your user personas: This will help you to understand what your audience wants and needs to see from you and the transformation you offer.
- Define your content pillars: These are subsets or topics that you will talk about to promote your products and services, and that will ensure you deliver your message in an interesting and relevant way.
- Pick your platforms: Once you have identified what your audience wants to see from you and where they hang out, you can choose the platforms that will work best for you.
- Optimise your bios and page feeds: Optimising your pages and profiles will help you become more visible and be found by more people who want and need to see your content.
- Developing a content plan: Now it's time to start planning your content and what exactly you are going to say, how and when. This doesn't need to be complicated. You might prefer to batch-create content, and others prefer to do it on the go. I recommend a mix.
- Keywords and Hashtags: Both of these will help you become more discoverable. Make sure you take the time to brainstorm and research the keywords and hashtags of your audience.
- Relationships and collaborations: Social media is all about being social. Think about the people and content sources that are relevant to your target audience and who you can collaborate with. Getting out there and interacting with a broader audience will help you to get your content seen and build relationships far quicker than posting every day.
- Measure your success: Set time aside to review your new strategy and ensure you do this regularly. It will help you to stay on track and identify new leads and opportunities.
As a bonus tip, remember to be intentional with your time so you can make the most out of it. Set time in your day and week and think about what you will do before you open the app.
You will get a lot more done, and it will stop you from getting distracted
All of this will be covered on the Social Media Strategy Day that myself and Lucy Brandram are hosting in Brighton on the 27th of April.
On the day, we will walk you through - how to complete all these steps and walk away with a clear plan you can implement immediately.
