The 10-Step Formula for Mastering LinkedIn Live (and Converting Viewers to Clients)

You’ve probably heard Gary Vee yelling about going live the past few months. And if you’re a founder selling a high-ticket offer, I’m here to tell you, he’s absolutely right. But you probably don't sell a physical product so going live on TikTok or Whatnot may not be the best option for you.
Here's what is: Start going live on LinkedIn on VIDEO (click here to register for the 4-Day LinkedIn Masterclass if you want to start).
Most people don’t realize this, but only 1% of LinkedIn’s nearly 1 billion users post original content weekly. And even fewer are leveraging LinkedIn Live. That means when you go live, you’re instantly in the top 1% of visibility. Add to that the fact that 4 out of 5 LinkedIn users are decision-makers (aka, no middlemen slowing down your sales process), and it’s clear: LinkedIn Live is a massive untapped opportunity.
I’ve used it to build my brand to nearly 1 million followers and have helped countless founders do the same.
Here’s the 10-step formula to make LinkedIn Live work for you.
1. Commit or Quit
Going live once won’t change your business. You need to commit for at least 12 months—whether you feel like it or not (because you're not going to always feel like it).
The founders I’ve coached who succeed don’t see LinkedIn Live as a one-time event—they treat it like a long-term strategy. You can’t expect one LinkedIn Live to 10x your business. You have to be in it for the long haul.
Start with a frequency you can sustain (once or twice a month), then increase it after a few months once you get comfortable. One of my clients rearranged their entire networking schedule just to stay consistent with their weekly Thursday LinkedIn Lives—and it paid off.
?? Pro tip: Schedule it in your calendar and treat it like a non-negotiable.
2. The Rule of One
Many founders go live with no clear goal—and that’s why they struggle. Instead, apply the Rule of One:
If your goal is converting connections into clients, then ask yourself:
3. Your Topic is Your Filter
To create your LinkedIn live video event you need three things: A title, a date/time and a thumbnail. That's it. What most people do is go with a generic title. Wouldn't recommend it because your title determines who registers for the live event.
A vague title like "Grow in 2025" will get more people to register but will they be the right people to most likely become your best clients? Probably not.
Here's bad, good and great titles:
Why? Because my best clients want to master live video and are Founders and CEOs.
If someone registers for " LinkedIn LIVE Video Strategy for Founders and CEO's" what are they telling me:
Those registrants and attendees are more likely to become my next best clients.
?? Pro tip: If your live is designed to bring in high-ticket clients, focus on titles that filter out the wrong audience and attract serious prospects.
4. Your Live Started a Month Ago
Most people schedule a live a few days in advance, invite a few connections, and wonder why no one shows up. Big mistake.
Here’s the right way to do it:
Founders often miss this step and they wonder why their LinkedIn Lives don’t get traction. Don’t let that be you.
5. Prove Your Expertise
Share what will be most USEFUL and HELPFUL to the people that you want to attract. Be a giver. Giving will earn you trust, before a prospect ever reaches out to you. If you try to gatekeep information, someone else will give it away for free and win the audience’s trust. Instead, focus on giving insights your audience can actually use.
Here are some ways to do this:
6. Practice the Tech and Your Delivery
Many founders skip this step, and it shows. Don’t let your first time using the tech be when you’re actually live.
I’ve seen so many founders make this mistake. You wouldn’t walk onto a stage in front of 500 people without preparing, so don’t do it on LinkedIn Live.
7. Bring the Energy
Energy matters. If you sound low-energy, your audience will tune out—or worse, leave.
Pro athletes warm up before games—do the same before going live. Whether that means doing jumping jacks, listening to music, or just pumping yourself up, do whatever it takes to show up with presence.
Fact: If you think you’re bringing enough energy, triple it.
8. Distribute Like a Pro
The biggest mistake founders make? Going live and forgetting about it.
?? Pro tip: Your Live isn’t just content—it’s an evergreen asset. Use it to stay visible long after the event ends.
9. Watch the Replay Like a Coach
Great athletes watch game footage to improve. You should do the same.
?? Rewatch your LinkedIn Live and take notes:
The best way to grow? Analyze, adjust, and improve.
10. Rinse and Repeat
Once your LinkedIn Live ends, schedule the next one immediately. Consistency is what builds momentum.
Remember:
If you’re serious about dominating your space on LinkedIn, it’s time to hit the red button.
Final Thoughts
Going live on LinkedIn is a long-term game, but the rewards are massive. It builds authority, attracts decision-makers, and—when done right—turns viewers into clients.
The only question is: Will you commit? Do you want it bad enough?
Let's grow together,
