10 Startup Lessons from a 10-Year Journey

  1. Focus on Health: In my 10 years of running a startup, I've learned how crucial it is to take care of your health. Do some yoga, hit the gym, go cycling, or even just take a walk. Don't worry about being consistent. If you have to stop, just start again. Trust me, it's worth it.
  2. Travel for New Perspectives: I can't emphasize this enough—travel. Experience new places and cultures. Sometimes, what you read in books feels completely different when you see it yourself. It's helped me see things from new angles.
  3. Value Your Relationships: In my journey, I've realized that relationships are more important than money. Sure, money is important, but the connections you make with people are priceless.
  4. Follow Your Passion: Whether you're an early riser or a night owl, do what you love. I've had my fair share of early mornings and late nights, and it's all worth it when you're doing something you're passionate about.
  5. Get Some Mentors: I've had mentors who've helped me through some tough times. Their guidance and experience have been invaluable to me. So, get yourself some mentors.
  6. Build a Supportive Circle: It's crucial to have a small group of friends where you can talk about anything without holding back. This has kept me grounded and light-hearted throughout my journey.
  7. Stay Close to Friends and Family: Entrepreneurs tend to get so wrapped up in their business that they forget about friends and family. But these are the people who'll be there for you in bad times. For me, I make it a point to call my parents daily and catch up with friends weekly.
  8. Act Thoughtfully: Whether it's feedback from an office junior or an investor, listen to them. Understand their perspective, and then act. As a leader, it's important to listen to everyone.
  9. Care for Your Team: Trust me, people can tell if you genuinely care or if you're just faking it. When you genuinely care for your team, they'll care for you and your business.
  10. Give More, Expect Less: As you move up, people will look to you for support. Do what you can to help others, without expecting anything in return.
