As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to an end, I wanted to give you the opportunity to see why a month is dedicated to Mental health every year. Mental health isn’t just a trending topic; it’s a dire concern. For those who may be unfamiliar with the urgency, here are 10 startling facts that underscore the pressing need for everyone to take mental health seriously:

  • Fact: Depression is a leading cause of disability worldwide. Disability costs US taxpayers $260 billion a year.

  • Fact: Suicide is the second leading cause of death among 15–29-year-olds globally.

Mental health isn’t a distant or isolated concern. It affects people around us, it affects our economy in a massive way, and it affects the quality of life in our communities. For the betterment of society and ourselves, it’s crucial that we all actively participate in understanding and addressing mental health issues.
