2019 was a year that finished with a big question.

In October 2019, I fulfilled a lifelong ambition to visit the British Columbian Coast, a trip that was to be my opportunity to stand in the presence of the majestic and ancient redwoods and Douglas firs of the Pacific North West.

Unfortunately, my trip did not entirely work out as planned. While I enjoyed the great scenery that the Pacific North West has to offer on the wonderful Vancouver Island, the trees I sought, have been to a great extent already lost.

Industrial logging has ravaged so much of this beautiful landscape and stolen some the world’s most ancient living treasures.

While I stood in the presence of this tragedy, I made a commitment to myself and this incredible place. I would do my part in helping secure what forest remains, and preserve other forests facing the same plight.

But how could I have a meaningful impact and help fight this destruction?

This is how ‘Search with Purpose’ was born.

ON BECOMING A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE AND GIVING 10%

Now that I am awake to this situation, me and the team here at Exige are taking action; adding further purpose to our searches and becoming a “social enterprise”.

As a company, as colleagues we are proud to announce that 10% of revenue from every Exige search fee will now be donated to protect our world’s forests.

Which means when you choose to partner with us, you don’t just get the best candidates, but 10% of the money you pay us goes directly to helping the environment.

No tricks, no disguises, no delay. This is revenue, not profit, so we guarantee that in every search, you will make a significant, lasting impact on the environment.

Why is this important?

In the last 30 years, we’ve lost more than 500,000 square miles of forest*. That’s less trees to capture carbon dioxide and pump out vital oxygen for us to breathe. Less trees to take the brunt of storms, sheltering our landscape and our homes. Less trees to nurture hugely complex and systemically important insects & keystone species.

I am also doing this for my children and yours. I want them to grow up in a beautiful, natural world. Where the opportunities to get lost in unbroken wildernesses remain. To experience the calm and rejuvenating teaching that are found in forests and trees all over the world.

Along with oceans, plants, and soil; forests are carbon sinks. Our forests absorb harmful carbon dioxide from the air and remove it from the environment. But with fewer trees and increasingly smaller forest cover, there’s more circulating carbon dioxide, more noxious greenhouse gases and more heat trapped in our atmosphere.

Scientists are increasingly alarmed by the accelerated rise in global temperatures, the potential for extreme weather systems, and resulting impact on developing and established communities alike.

We are entering a climate crisis. So now is the time to act.

HELP US SAVE 800 ACRES

Our aim is to save 800 acres of forest this year (that’s around 300 rugby pitches). It’s a big ask for a small firm, however we are very confident that we can do it. But we need your help.

While these 800 acres will not solve global climate risks, at Exige, we all believe that change starts with the individual, and our example of responsible corporate capitalism could be an inspiration to other companies sharing a similar deep desire to be part of the solution.

By partnering with charities across the world who are doing crucial work for the planet, purchasing critical forests acre by acre in regions like the Amazon, the temperate rainforests in North America and the old growth rainforests in Southeast Asia. We hope to show our clients that Executive Search is not only a force for good in your company, it can have an impact on systems and environments that support us all.

And of course, without you, our clients, we can’t do anything.

Without searching for talent for your company and placing the very best candidates in the world, we cannot hope to succeed in saving these wonderful places.
