March is Women’s History Month where we celebrate the significant contributions women have made throughout history. Scholarships can lead you to make history; here are some scholarship opportunities that you can apply for in 2024:
- Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) Scholarship Program: SCAG has about $4,000 in scholarships to award to seven high school or community college students in the SCAG region (Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino or Ventura counties). Application deadline is March 22, 2024.
- Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Scholarships: TMCF and McDonalds has 63 scholarship awards totaling $15,000 for students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities for the 2024-2025 academic school year. Application deadline is March 27, 2024.
- The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club (NANBPWC) Scholarship Program: The NANBPWC has an array of scholarship opportunities for students ranging from freshmen to senior and various majors. All applications have a deadline of March 29, 2024.
- Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Scholarship Program: This scholarship offers awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for women who are studying for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science. The scholarships will be awarded to incoming freshmen enrolled in an ABET-accredited degree program. Application Deadline is March 31, 2024.
- BHW Scholarship: This scholarship offers an award of $3,000 for women who are working towards an undergraduate or master’s degree in science technology, engineering or mathematics during the academic year following the application deadline. Application deadline is April 15, 2024.
- Generation Google Scholarship: This scholarship is for students studying technology and computer science. Students selected will receive $10,000 for studying during the 2024-2025 school year. Application deadline is April 23, 2024.
- Women in Federal Law Enforcement (WIFLE) Scholarship Program: This scholarship offers an award of $2,500 for women who want a career in law enforcement and who are majoring in Criminal Justice or related disciplines such as social studies, public administration, computer science, finance, linguistic arts, chemistry and physics. Application deadline is May 1, 2024.
- Los Cancioneros (LC) Music Scholarships: This scholarship awards $1,000 to students studying either vocal or instrumental music. Students need to have lived or currently reside in the South Bay area of Southern California. Application Deadline is May 5, 2024.
- National Academy of Television, Arts & Sciences - Pacific Southwest Chapter (NATAS PSW): NATAS PSW has Scholarships ranging from $500 – $5,000 for undergraduate and graduate students, enrolled in colleges or universities this coming fall or spring school year. Application Deadline is May 26, 2024.
- Genita Evangelista Johnson Endowed Scholarship: This scholarship is for a student pursuing a career in medicine. One African American female will be selected to receive an award of $2,500. Application deadline is June 4, 2024.Written by Jacqueline Cochran, PR Coordinator
