Qualcomm was founded in 1985 and has been actively shaping the 5G industry, improving digital communications between people within companies. The most notable industries to benefit from Qualcomm’s technology include the healthcare, education, and automotive industries. 

Qualcomm’s new AI software and virtual reality technology improves the way that industries wirelessly connect. At a time where virtual communication is more important than ever, it's no wonder that Qualcomm has emerged on top of the tech company industry. Qualcomm supplies state-of-the-art technology, including chips, CPUs, graphic and digital processors, and more, to big smartphone and computer companies and mobile networks.

ServiceNow is a company that implements cloud-based innovations into the workforce to help employees seamlessly communicate as a team. The tech company provides businesses with a single platform that enables users to create digital workflows for easy distribution of models and architecture designs to make those boring meetings more engaging. Another note-worthy tech company in San Diego is GreatCall. This health tech company is known for its mobile devices and other portable technology that can be worn to help elderly patients stay safe and help caregivers handle the stress of managing their health.

One of the most notable technologies created by GreatCall includes an app that can be used in smartphones to send emergency alert notifications to caregivers. 

It also lets seniors have more autonomy in the decision-making process of their health by letting them choose to connect with doctors for advice from the comforts of their own homes. They can also more efficiently contact family or other support system caregivers in the case of an emergency or update to their health.

8. EcoATM

As sustainable business continues to rise to the forefront of the technological world, San Diego’s EcoATM has risen to the top to meet that demand. The company has invented green tech to encourage people to recycle smartphones they no longer use, rather than send them to landfills where the emit harmful toxins. 

Since 2008, EcoATM has helped prevent well over 25 million smartphones from unsustainably being thrown away. Though the green tech company started in San Diego, their smartphone receptor containers have been installed around the US to make it more accessible for smartphone users to sustainably recycle their old devices.

9. EDF Renewables 

On a theme of green technology, EDF Renewables has also been working to create a greener planet. The company has designed solar technology and electrical vehicle charging stations across the world. This technology comes with usage trackers that allow clients to track how much power is being consumed by those using their technology. 

So far, EDF Renewables has over $1 billion of managed assets in 22 countries, where it hopes to continue designing and building green solutions to the tech industry.

10. XIFIN

Last on the list, XIFIN is another healthcare tech company. Unlike GreatCall, however, this company focuses on providing healthcare organizations with a secure analytics platform for a more efficient management system for medical analysis within hospitals and clinics.
