10 reasons why you should work in Start up over MNC

Every year around thousands of companies start out of which only few survive in this competitive world. Basically, at an initial stage, a Start Up is a venture in search of a profitable business model or service, that can be scaled up rapidly as demand for the product or service grows. Often, it’s a company that decides to take a chance and come down in a market with innovative solutions with the hope to succeed in upcoming year.

Or in other words, A Start Up is a joint venture started by a small group of individuals willing to bring the change in current trend using their creativity and strengths.

Being an HR of an IT Start Up, during the interviews, I came across multiple candidates who reject the job proposal or do not respond to the 2nd call after they come to know that its a start up. I must say " All the M.N.C also started with small number of individuals, consider facebook, Instagram, Airbnb etc.". It doesn't matter, what is the number of the employees, what matters is how they move towards achieving a goal and reach the heights...

Hers are 10 reasons why working in Startup is beneficial over MNC as per my experience...

  1. You will learn Multi-Tasking: As it is the beginning of the business, with small number of individuals, each individual has multiple tasks to be done other than the actual technical quality. This helps you to unfold your hidden talents and you can do multi-tasking for company's growth
  2. Change in responsibilities: In MNC's you have to continue with same sort of tasks for years unless you are promoted but while in startup, the role changes as per the need of the company. You might be hired for one reason and after some time you might have to do something different than what you were hired for
  3. Chance to Experiment: As its a startup, there is a chance for experimentation, A trial and error strategy is used, we never know what works...
  4. Innovation: As there is a chance to experiment, you are no more asked to follow the same old patterns rather, you can innovate your style and who knows, it becomes "THE STYLE"
  5. Problem Solving ability: Less the number of people, more the problems, the employee has to deal with his/her technical problems. Each problem becomes an opportunity for trial and error for everyone. You can champion in dealing with the problem
  6. Self Management: Unlike MNC's, in a start up, there are no managers to keep an eye on you and your work deadlines, this gives a chance to manage self, set deadlines, finding solutions on your own, Pull you out of the comfort zone etc
  7. Learning Multiple skills: As your role and responsibility changes with the needs of the company, we do update with the skills required with particular role which leads to learning to multiple skills
  8. Black or White: As it is a startup, everyone is aware about everything, no statistics are hidden form the employees, Thus everyone is on Same Page Same Team
  9. Ownership, Accountability and Leadership: With the high tendency of risks, each step that is taken requires thoughtfulness and analyzing. This leads to taking ownership and accountability for the work that is done and at the same time building leadership skills in company process
  10. Collaboration: Working in a start up requires to collaborate with each and every member of the company. Thus, a person will become more collaborative in his working pattern or i must say that a person become Team player.

Yep, I agree. But one most important thing is that whenever startup hires an new employee, they should respect their ideas. As per my experience, this never happens. CEO is always right kind of environment is served in startups. So we need to point this thing as well.

It's really amazing but when the start up gets fail and the employees are jobless. It's really painful Also the upper level never bother to help in finding any suitable opportunity which makes the people believe not to trust start up and be part of reliable MNCs
