10 Reasons Why You Must Write a Book

10 reasons why you must write a book?for your business

If you're someone who helps clients to solve their problems in life or capitalise on their opportunities. And you do this by sharing your knowledge, your experience, your expertise, and the magic ingredient (which by the way is where the money is, and I'll come to in a moment.)...

Then you must have a business book.

Why?

Here are 10 reasons why we need a book for our businesses

#10 - Lead Generation

The wonderful thing about having a book as a lead generator, as a golden carrot, as a magnet, is the title of the book, (we can change and test different titles), as this will attract clients, customers or patients to us.

Why?

Because we can attract them specifically by making the title appropriate to them and their problem or their opportunity.

#9 – Not Only Swapping Time for Money

Instead of just swapping our time for money, which is a great thing to do by the way, I'm sure you and I love swapping our time for money, spending time with clients and helping them. It's what we are here to do.

When we take our knowledge, experience, expertise, and our take on it, which is the magic ingredient, and convert it into a book, it means we're not only swapping our time for money, for fees, because we can take that book and we can turn the book into a vast variety of different informational products.

#8 – Turn it into Other Informational Products

I took one of my books ‘Sell You Way to the Top’ and converted it to ‘The Accelerated Business Growth System.’

The book sold for about £10 or £15 hard-back and a few thousand were sold.

But the programme...

‘The Accelerated Business Growth System’, which was audio, video, workbooks, is online.

We sold 600 copies at £3,000 a time – which is £1.8m

So, we don't want to only swap our time for money ,and we can do that by writing a book.

We can create what's so-called ‘passive income.’ It isn't ‘passive’ because you always have to do something.

But by taking the same information that we took out of our minds into the book, we can make an online programme, and with our marketing we can bring people to our landing page. People can sign up for either a subscription or a low-value product to start off the relationship.

#7 - Increases Our Reputation

We increase our reputation in our chosen marketplace and our significance. We make ourselves the natural and logical choice for people to buy from.

Why?

Because they've seen our author status and it improves our reputation.

#6 - Increases our fees

Why and how does that work?

It's a strange thing, and here's an expression.

“Authors get paid more”.

I don't know why it is, but here’s my take on why I think this

I believe it's a change in the demeanour of the person who becomes an author.

You walk into a meeting with a potential client.

You start off the meeting with the usual pleasantries and you give them a copy of your latest book and then, this is what I do, in a very gentle tone say to them, "Would you like me to sign it?"

I found those who say yes, and I can't remember anybody saying no, we've always done business together.

And so being an author, you quote more money and people are happy to pay because of who you are.

#5 - Leaving a Legacy.

Stuart, a friend of mine, once said...

"He didn’t, when he died, want to just leave big dirty smudge where he’d been". He wanted to leave a legacy

There's your knowledge, your experience, your expertise, your take on it, you'll take on life itself. It's left behind for other people to learn from.

What a wonderful thing to be able to do.

#4 - Creates a Business and a Life of Choice

It enables us to build for ourselves a business and a life of choice where the only choice previously was to go and do stuff, or do it on a Zoom call, we can now do it through our books, through our various audio and video, various programmes by sharing what it is that we know. We get worldwide reach.

#3 - Repurpose Information

The great thing about books and repurposing of the information, is you can reach everywhere. And you may not want to travel.

Personally, I like travelling. I've done some great seminars around the world. I've been three times to Hong Kong with my wife and run a one-day seminar and whilst I didn't make any money. I had a seven-day holiday in Hong Kong, three times that was paid for. It was wonderful.

And how did that come about?

Somebody read one of my books.

I remember doing some work in Holland because someone had picked up a copy of one of my books in Schiphol Airport.

It's amazing what happens once we decide, once we commit, and decide to write that book.

#2 - Authenticity

It’s an overused word, but a necessary word in what it is that you and I do. We can get out our authentic message to the marketplace and that is just so important.

#1 – The Best Business Card

You don't need a business card if you've got a book.

  • You meet somebody casually and give them a copy of your book.
  • You meet someone at the start of a client meeting and give them a
  • copy of the book.
  • You could send a copy in the post as your business card.
  • I did some marketing years ago...
  • Where I sent a thousand cassettes out to a mailing list I'd rented. I did a test..
  • I sent half of the list a letter with the cassette inside

And the test was...

I sent a letter where people had to complete a form and request a copy of the cassette.

The mailer where people had to ask for it, rather than it being sent to them pulled better results.

So, all of these ways, lead generation, swapping time for money, passive income, reputation, increased fees, legacy, business of choice, worldwide reach, authentic message, and a business card, all through writing a book.

I know how to do it.

In the meantime, I wish you every success in all your adventures in life.

As you and I continue to share our knowledge, our experience, our expertise, and the magic ingredient, our take on it, with an ever wider world that is waiting to hear what we know.

Go on then...

Hello! ?? Absolutely love the emphasis on the transformative power of writing a book. Ernest Hemingway once said, "There is no friend as loyal as a book." In the world of business, your book could become the best friend not just to you, but to your audience, guiding them through their journeys. ????
