10 Reasons Squarespace Websites are Perfect for Therapists
Ok, you’re ready to take the leap and get a website! Congratulations!!
Making the decision is the first step towards growing a truly successful, modern private therapy practice.
But wait, where do you get a website? How do you choose a designer?? What does it all mean???
Yeah, this can all be overwhelming.
I totally understand your overwhelm, which is why I’ve focused my website design business solely on building Squarespace websites for therapists.
I didn’t choose this solely for selfish reasons. If you haven’t learned all about me and why I work exclusively with the superheroes in mental health, take a minute and skim through my About page, I’ll wait….. Ok, all caught up? So, now you know I think you guys are awesome, and I totally get you.
You want to help people, and focus only on that, right? I already know from my alter ego as an accountant you don’t want to deal with bookkeeping, taxes, and all of that fun stuff (spoiler alert: neither do I, that’s why I’m here!). I’m willing to bet you feel the same way about dealing with your website - you’d rather someone else take care of it so you can focus on seeing clients. That’s where I come in, with my super sidekick, Squarespace.
What is Squarespace?
Squarespace is an all-in-one website design platform. Your website is built, hosted, and managed (securely) all in one place. The site you’re currently on was built in Squarespace, naturally, as well as all of the sites on my Services page.
What’s so great about it?
Allow me to break it down for you:
- Squarespace designs naturally lend themselves to being clean and modern. Who doesn’t want that? Trust me, no one will stay on your site if it’s crowded and disorganized. We can find a way to include all of your fantastic information in a more presentable way with Squarespace.
- Everything’s included. You won’t pay separate fees for hosting, themes, widgets, SSL certificates, or any other technical buzz words you can think of. Other platforms charge you for these things piecemeal, and it adds up.
- It’s secure. Squarespace automatically includes an SSL certificate for your website, giving you an “https://” website - the gold standard to indicate that visitors to your site are in a safe place.
- It’s all up to date and compatible. You may not realize how valuable this is unless you’ve ever had a Wordpress site. Believe it or not, Wordpress may be updated, and half of your site may crash because it is no longer compatible with the update. Not fun! Squarespace however, is always up to date, and because it’s all managed within Squarespace, you don’t have to worry about compatibility.
- It’s easy to manage. Seriously, once I finish designing your site, I will walk you through the whole thing in just a one-hour phone call, and you’ll be able to add blog posts and change photos or information all with a few clicks. I’d say Squarespace is a lot like Apple designs in that it is very user-friendly and intuitive.
- No coding required. This kind of ties into the above point, but it warrants its own spot on the list. I think one of the major intimidating factors to anyone who doesn’t “do” websites is the fear of having to learn code. As I mentioned, you can do what needs to be done with a few quick maneuvers on the site and easily keep it current.
- Your site is YOUR site, including a custom domain, and a professional email address, if you choose. With a custom Squarespace site, you won’t have a web address like: www.myprivatepractice.website.com. You can have your very own web address like: www.myprivatepractice.com, and your email can be: [email protected]. Much more professional! You don’t want your potential clients’ first impression of you to be that you’re too cheap to pay for your own website.
- You can have your clients schedule their own appointments on your website - for free!Acuity is included with your Squarespace site, and it makes it easy to manage your calendar using their platform.
- SEO is straightforward with Squarespace. There are no tricks or limitations here, unlike what you may read elsewhere. Just like any other platform, you use your keywords, provide your users valuable content, and make sure your site is user-friendly - Google will thank you for it!
- Squarespace has fantastic customer support. Once your site is live and we’ve parted ways, you may need to do something on your site and need a little assistance. Lucky for you, there is a plethora of information online for Squarespace users, in addition to 24/7 live support from a real person! There’s always me, but your answer could be just a click away.
So there you have it! I love Squarespace, and I think you will, too. It is an especially great platform for service-based businesses (like therapists in private practice), as it is so uncomplicated and lends itself to providing valuable information in an beautiful format.
