10 Reasons
Nathan M. Knuth
People Leader | Director of HR | HR Business Partner | Culture Builder | Unleashing the Power of People & Building the Right Culture | Bilingual Spanish
Today I finally decided it was time I started getting into blogging and sharing some thoughts. I have to give credit and thanks to one of my "virtual" mentors and influencers, @Liz Ryan, well known career expert and author of Reinvention Roadmap (a book I highly recommend) for motivating me to do more "mojo growing" to quote one of her phrases. Thanks for your inspiration, Liz.
For this first post, by way of introduction, I just want to tell you a little about myself and a summary of my take on the HR world, which is what I have been focused on for quite some time now from different aspects and varying industry setttings. I'm Nathan M. Knuth, an intensely motivated and dynamic senior HR executive (as opposed to the stereotypical transaction based HR type, no offense...) with broad global experience (residence in three different countries and working with global/multi-national organizations) and a record of tackling and transforming complex organizational cultures.
Here are 10 reasons why you might be interested in getting to know me (if you're not interested, that's fine too. I am not offended in the least.)
? I am bilingual in Spanish and bi-cultural in Mexican/Latin American cultures (8 years of residence in Mexico and many years working with friends and colleagues from Central and South America, I must confess I just love the food, the people, the rich cultures and the vibe) - being able to connect and serve each employee is a top priority of mine.
? As a HR strategist and visionary in people management, I am driven to help create a culture of happiness - individually, in the work environment and in the customer experience - and execute for outstanding results!
? My personal map to an organization's success is quite simple.
Happy people = Happy culture = Happy customers = SUCCESS!
HAPPINESS MAKES MONEY!
? Along the way I have picked up a few skills in bringing out the effectiveness of organizations and individuals through people development, "culture building" (as I like to call it) and employee engagement.
? Some of these skills are being a creative and organized relationship builder, a natural leader, having fun, keeping a little humor around and being an effective bilingual communicator (English-Spanish).
? My employees appreciate that my door is always open because for me the people really matter!
? I love collaborating with business partners, team members and service providers to blend up successful results in disruptive innovation, solving problems and getting things done. This NEW type of dynamic HR leadership is a game changer!
? My friends call me "the Boy Scout" because I always come prepared - ready to handle any situation or unexpected adventure. Having the right tools, gear, know-how and foresight as well as some good ole fashioned resourcefulness can be very handy in the great outdoors, in life and in the workplace.
? For me employee engagement comes down to 1 on 1 time, empathy and respect. Actually caring usually goes a long way! People are the most valuable asset any company has, period.
? I'm a firm believer that if you can't have fun while you're working, you're probably doing the wrong work.
Well there it is, a first blog post. Please let me know if I can help? Let's connect. Would love to hear your comments on some of these HR perspectives.
