10 Reasons to Donate on LWP Legacy Fund Day of Giving

10 Reasons to Donate on LWP Legacy Fund Day of Giving

The Legacy Fund enables leaders from diverse backgrounds—youth, nonprofit leaders, students, and small business owners—to connect, collaborate, and work toward a stronger, more vibrant Winter Park.

The Leadership Winter Park Legacy Fund Day of Giving is more than a fundraiser; it’s a celebration of collective generosity and community pride. Every dollar raised brings us closer to a future where leadership opportunities are accessible to all.

There are many reasons to join the movement, here are 10 of my favorites.

1.?? Support Equitable Access to Leadership Programs

The funds raised make it possible to provide $35,000 in scholarships annually, opening doors for individuals who may otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in adult and youth leadership programs. Your generosity helps make leadership accessible for everyone.

2.?? Make an Immediate Impact

Your donation during the Day of Giving directly supports the Legacy Fund, a dedicated fund within the Winter Park Improvement Foundation (a 501(c)(3) separate from the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce ). The dollars collected today will fund the Youth Leader scholarships that will be awarded this summer.

3.?? Boost Your Gift’s Impact

When you give during the Day of Giving, you help LWP reach its goal of 300 donors and unlock more than $6,000 in challenge donations. This means your generosity goes even further, multiplying the impact of every dollar raised and creating even more opportunities for future leaders.

4.?? Invest in Tomorrow’s Leaders

Your gift allows 50 high school students to attend Youth Leaders on partial scholarships, covering 43% of tuition, and offers unlimited full scholarships to those in need. By supporting these students, you’re investing in the next generation of changemakers.

5.?? Foster Diversity in Leadership

Through the Opportunity Scholarship, one person of color will receive a full scholarship to participate in Leadership Winter Park. This initiative builds a more inclusive and representative community of leaders.

6.?? Support Nonprofit Leaders

With your help, nonprofit leaders can attend LWP with scholarships tailored to their needs, including one full Victory Cup Initiative Scholarship and two partial scholarships covering 50% of tuition. These scholarships strengthen the impact of organizations that serve Winter Park and these individuals bring so much to the class dynamic.

7.?? Empower Emerging Leaders

Through the Emerging Leader Scholarship, your donation supports one Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College student who will attend LWP on a full scholarship. This student typically represents the youngest generation in the workforce and adds a unique perspective to the class and the community.

8.?? Strengthen Community Impact

Leadership programs don’t just benefit participants—they benefit everyone. The skills and experiences gained by participants ripple out to businesses, nonprofits, schools, and neighborhoods. By giving, you’re strengthening the fabric of our community and ensuring that impactful projects and initiatives continue to thrive.

9.?? Every Dollar Stays Local

Your donation directly supports local efforts to build a stronger, more connected Winter Park. Funds raised during the Day of Giving are reinvested into leadership programming, scholarships, and community projects that address the unique needs of our area.

10.??Every Gift Has a Lasting Impact No matter the size, your contribution helps create real, measurable change. When you donate during the Day of Giving, you join a collective effort to build a better future for Winter Park.

So, I challenge you to give on February 13. Every contribution, no matter the size, is an investment in the future of Winter Park.

Let’s ensure that everyone has the opportunity to lead, inspire, and transform Winter Park.

It's really important to help the youth (and others) in the community to better understand where they live, work and play. Donating to the Legacy Fund is an easy way to help people that might otherwise not be exposed to all that's going on.
