10 Questions to Help Your Business Breakthrough Roadblocks
Are you experiencing roadblocks in your business that are preventing you from getting to the next level? Today, I'm going to share 10 questions you can ask yourself to help break through those roadblocks. I am Tim Fitzpatrick with Rialto Marketing, where we believe marketing shouldn't be difficult. All you need is the right plan. Thank you so much for taking the time to tune in if you're watching this live or listening live. We are a couple of days before Christmas.
It is hard to believe. It's really snuck up on me. I don't know about you. I feel completely unprepared. But by the time the day comes, I will be ready and I'm looking forward to spending some nice quality time with my family. And I hope the same for you and yours. So there was a famous Swiss psychiatrist by the name of Carl Jung who said to ask the right question is already half the solution to the problem so that one more time to ask the right question is already half the solution to the problem.
We all run into roadblocks on this entrepreneurial journey. It's not a straight path. It is a winding road. It's a squiggly line, but asking the right questions when we get stuck is the most logical place to start and is the place, if you do that, it will really help you figure out what direction you need to go to push through that roadblock. So asking the right questions is so, so important. So I'm going to go through these 10 questions. And by the way, a lot of these questions you can use in the transfer over into your personal life as well. So if you're stuck there, some of these, you can use them as well.
So first question, which of your talents and capabilities would you like to use more of? We all have our strengths. We all have that zone of genius if you will. Why would we not want to continue to use those, especially if we're not using them well? Right now we're not taking advantage of them. So look at the talent and the capabilities you have. And which ones you should be you should be using more of.
Two, what should we be doing more of, what are we doing well, that's working that we need to continue to do and maybe we should maybe we need to double down on to really take advantage of and maximize the return that we're going to get from those?
Now, on the flip side, the third question you can ask is, what should we be doing less of? OK, are we doing things that just aren't working at all? It's not a good use of our time and we're not getting a good return on it. Is it something, you know, personally, if you're asking that, I mean, hey, are you working in the highest and best use of your time, or is this something that you can delegate to somebody else and really make sure that you're maximizing the work that you're doing and that you're being paid at an hourly rate that is commensurate with what you do?
Four, how can we be more valuable to our clients? The more valuable we are to our clients, the more business they're going to do with us. The more they're going to be willing to pay, the happier they're going to be with the work we do. We want to be as valuable as we possibly can be. So are there opportunities that we've overlooked or we haven't even thought about where we can become more valuable to our clients?
Question five, what's the smartest decision we made in the last three to six months? We all make good decisions. We make bad decisions, too. We need to learn from those. Think about the best decision you've made in the last three to six months. And what can you learn from that is there's something you can pull out of that. Do you need to double down on whatever that decision was, or can you take that decision and apply it to other aspects or areas of your business to get better results? Are there just ask yourself the question. Start thinking about it.
Now, related to that is question six, which is what's the dumbest decision that we made in the last three to six months? We certainly don't want to repeat those dumb decisions, those mistakes that we made over and over again. So let's highlight those so that they are top of mind. We learn from them and then we move on so that we don't make those same mistakes again.
Question seven, where are we hitting it out of the park? Just where are we absolutely killing it? Because again, do we want to double down on that? Can we take that same principle and apply it somewhere else and get equally amazing and awesome results? I don't know if we asked the question. We can dig a little bit deeper below the surface to figure that out. OK, so where are we hitting it out of the park?
Question number eight, where are we missing the mark and need to raise our game? We don't do everything well, none of us do. So where are we falling short that we need to raise our game up and to better identify that those one or two points where you can start to have an impact and improve what you're doing? And implemented question nine, what can we simplify, eliminate, delegate or outsource? This goes back to what I touched on earlier. I mean, we may be doing maybe you're doing things that are not you're making them more complicated than they need to be.
You shouldn't even be doing them right. You shouldn't be doing them yourself. Right. Just because you shouldn't be doing them yourself doesn't mean nobody should be doing them. Right. Those are the things we need to delegate. You know, if you're spending your time on ten dollars an hour work and your effective hourly rate is five hundred dollars an hour, you shouldn't be doing that. You need to delegate that to somebody else or outsource it. Right.
Hire somebody else to do it for you. OK, so super, super important. If you can identify things that you can simplify, eliminate, delegate or outsource, you will become far more efficient and you'll be spending your time on things that will really give you the best possible return.
And the last question. Question number 10, how can we zig where the competition zags? This is all about getting out of this competition stuff, competing with others, are there ways that we can differentiate our business and do something different than all of our other competitors?
How can we get out of this red ocean right where it's bloody? All these competitors are attacking each other and find that blue ocean where it's beautiful, the waters are calm. There's nobody else there competing against us. We are the only ones there. How can you zig where the competition zags?
So those are the 10 questions, I hope between now and the end of the year.
