Andre Weiers
Freelance Senior 3D Artist & Animator | Ich belebe Eure Inhalte mit realistischer CGI & wirkungsvoller Produktvisualisierung
Recently, I was invited by a master's student to share my perspectives and experiences with AI text-to-image generators like DALL-E 2, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and others. In a thorough interview, I answered ten poignant questions on this exciting topic. If you're curious about these questions and my views on them, I warmly invite you to take a look. And if you have additional thoughts or questions about it, I would love to hear from you.
Question 4
What is your personal assessment of what text-to-image generators generally mean for artists, and for you as a 3D artist in particular?
New Horizons in Image Design
The technology of text-to-image generators represents a significant development, especially for artists and for me as a 3D artist. It opens up the possibility for people without established skills in image design to visualize their ideas, ultimately stimulating creativity and imagination.

Potential Risks and Misuse
However, there is also a downside to this technology. It could be used to spread false information even more convincingly - because as the saying goes, "seeing is believing". For example, celebrities or politicians might be shown in impossible or questionable poses, or saying things that are simply put into their mouths.
?
Copyright Concerns
Furthermore, text-to-image generators raise new questions in terms of copyright. If companies have used copyrighted artworks without permission to train their image generators and are now charging for access to these generators without involving the original artists, this would be legally improper. It is to be expected that there will be many legal disputes to clarify how courts and legislators will deal with these new technologies and their impacts.
