At Ozinga, we’ve been at it for almost 100 years. There’s been a lot of timeless wisdom passed down through the generations, from people like my grandpa and my dad, that we are continually reminded of in our daily experiences on the job. While my grandpa and my dad are no longer with us, their legacy is alive and well. I’ve included some of this wisdom in the in the following “10 Ps”.?I hope it’s as much of an encouragement to you as it is to us.
- People. Talented, hardworking people coming together on a foundation of trust is your greatest competitive advantage. It’s the secret to success in any endeavor.
- Purpose. A sense of purpose will drive you and your team to levels that others won’t go. In the absence of purpose, people flame out, give up, sell out or move on, particularly when things get difficult, as they always do.
- Passion. An intense enthusiasm towards your work will flow from an environment of working together with like-minded people aligned in purpose and calling.
- Planning. Plan your work and work your plan. “Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.” Proverbs 15:22
- Patience. In business, patience is critical. This doesn’t mean sitting still, but it does mean playing the long game and trusting the process.
- Perseverance. So much of long-term success is about continually showing up, no matter how discouraging it can get.
- Progress. Keep moving the ball forward. You can and should take breaks, but the mission never does. You’re either moving forward or backward; there’s no such thing as coasting to make progress.
- Profit. This is the fuel that keeps the engine running. It is the scorecard for how well you are doing. Without profit, there is no capital to grow the business. If your outgo exceeds your income, your upkeep will be your downfall.
- Prayer. Prayer is an opportunity for you to acknowledge your Creator, confess your sins, be thankful for all you have been entrusted with, and ask for help. It is a supernatural opportunity to build vulnerability-based trust with others.
- Providence. People call it different things - luck, fate, destiny, karma, chance. We are subject to things beyond our control. There is an author much bigger than us. There is great freedom when you surrender to His plan, trusting He is good, knowing He has good plans for you.

2 年Hi Marty, I have enjoyed your articles very much and especially the 10 Ps. I would say that all of the Ps apply to leading a ministry as well as leading a business. Even the word "profit" applies if you apply the word "benefit" as a meaning. A growing ministry can benefit everyone involved, from staff having a livable wage to ministry partners having more resources for evangelism and discipleship. The Gospel coming into the life of a community should generate lots of "collateral good". Benefit from dealing with individual sin to societal injustice, the Gospel is still the best news to change the world. Keep up the good work and keep the articles coming. B.
