Excellent article as always David Marriage. I'd love your reflections on which of these is moving in the right direction and what's going backward and what you see as the top three levers for change.

Great post David, but I'm not sure I understand #2. Can you reword it? Also, I reposted with a more detailed perspective of why we need long term thinking, coalitions, common standards and accurate prices that reflect all societal costs and benefits-?https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/matthew-elston-602a6424_innovation-sustainability-climatechange-ugcPost-6972903305039552512-ftq7

Sustainable Value & ESG at KPMG LLP

David Marriage great list. You mention: "One Dimensional Focus Many organisations are focussed on climate at the moment. However, solving the climate crisis whilst ignoring the social inequalities will prevent the markets responding to the expectations of consumers and investors alike. We need to ensure that sustainability is all-encompassing." This is an interesting stance given the The Economist's recent article, and an (un-named...) large Professional Service Firm's leadership coming out (on LI) and saying 'ESG' should be boiled down to just 'emissions'. At KPMG, we're certainly looking more broadly. But welcome your thoughts on whether a narrower view is needed, even if just in the short-term? Hannah Cool Joe Crotty Bertie Walker welcome any thoughts too...!

This is the best piece I've read in a while in the crowded space that is ESG and sustainability. The problems are so well defined. A fan already David Marriage . Your points on Value vs Sustainability and the problem of lack of unison in standards across the globe are bang on!
