10 Mobile APP Development Trends to Look Forward to

There are more than 2.15 billion smartphone users across the world. This number is massively and quickly increasing with each passing day. With the increase of smartphone users, the demand for mobile apps has also increased to provide them better access to all apps across the world. The increasing number of mobile apps and tech consumers are the driving force behind the Smartphones and Tablets to install as many applications as possible.

It is projected that the mobile app development sector is expecting a growth of more than 80 billion dollars in 2017 and may supersede the figure of 100 Billion dollars by 2020. Digital experiences are made better as the app development industries are totally committed to their clients with the help of highly advanced technologies

This year, We are witnessing a significant change in the basic working of the mobile app industry. It is trying to incorporate the facilities of analyzing big data and predicting outcomes. It would also help to improve the customer services without the intervention of human beings. A lot of attention is being paid by big companies like IBM, Facebook, Microsoft and Google on machine learning and AI (artificial intelligence).

Industries all around the world, from retail Healthcare, finance, or banking are mostly dependent on the apps and their development resulting in the company's development too. In this article, we want to discuss the mobile app development trends of 2017 which should not be missed. Have a look:

  1. Cloud is the way to go- Mobile apps which are cloud based are ruling the market this year and will continue to do so in future. Numerous exciting benefits of the cloud are being realized by the developers. Therefore they are keeping the size of the mobile apps small so that it does not consume a lot of memory of the phone and can effectively be managed at the same time. It will enable the users to sync their apps with different smart devices. The compatibility feature of the Cloud is a total win.
  2. Security gains more importance - Out of every four mobile application, three of them failed to pass the basic security test before 2015. The developers have continuously been working on this area. Sensitive personal transactions, social security numbers, bank details and NFC payments are being carried out with the help of Smartphones and they cannot afford to risk the loss of confidential information of the users. This means apps must pass the security protocol measures. This area is under serious R&D.
  3. IoT is here to stay - According to a research, more than 5 million people and more than 50 million things will get connected to each other by 2019. More than 53% of all the app developers are already working on IoT in some way or the other. And this percentage will increase tremendously within the coming years. In the upcoming years, we will see iOS and Android giving a lot of importance to IoT.
  4. Wearable Technology - Wearable Technology is the thing since the Apple watch was introduced in the market. The Healthcare and fitness industry mostly took advantage of this technology. Now it is expected to be researched and explored by other industries like fashion and textiles. The mobile app developers are focusing to build wearable applications in different industries.
  5. It is more about free apps - It is reported that around 75% of the apps in the app store are free and this number would increase tremendously to 93%. Though there will be an in-app purchase which generates revenue for both IOS and Android. Around 310 million apps would be available which would also increase the opportunity for the development of hybrid apps and mobile web apps.
  6. Beacon and location based services are in vogue -Apps like Apple's beacon have become very popular, which is an integrated location based service app. With the WiFi support, the usage of applications is expected to increase beyond the limits of the traditional requirements. It would provide the people with accurately relevant location based information. iBeacon by Apple has already set an example with this trend and the Android will soon catch up.
  7. Android versus iOS Battlefield - The iOS and Android are the big giants in the mobile OS market. It is expected that they will continue to be dominant in the market in the coming years. According to researchers, Android has a market of 82.8% while the iOS so has a share of 13.9%around the globe. The interesting part would be to see how both continue to work and bring up new mobile apps to solidify their positions and win the hearts of the users.
  8. Swift is the language - Swift is a programming language which the developers are keeping in mind and using to the fullest. Many mobile developers have confirmed that it is much easier as compared to the Objective-C. It would not be very easy for Swift to replace Objective-C in the near future but will gain a lot of popularity. Swift 2 has been launched with many new developer friendly features and this language is here to stay.
  9. Shorter app development cycles -The mobile app developers are working hard to find ways to help them capture a market share as the market is getting competitive day by day. They are focusing on faster app development which means that the app would develop by shortening its life cycle but without compromising on its quality.
  10. App promotional expenses will rise -The major revenue will be generated by the in-app advertisements generator. This means that the developers would continue to spend money to increase the in-app advertisement content and quality without compromising the experience of the users.

These are major mobile app development trends to look forward in the years to come and witness some ground-breaking disruption in the mobile app market.

Generally, I agree with your post. Except the research I see suggests smartphone users today, rely on fewer and fewer "non-core, or functional" apps like banking, messaging, transportation, email, social, etc., and download almost zero new apps each month. We also see bots (voice and chat) being more and more consumer-facing with nothing to download. It's still a mobile-first world, and cloud wins too.
