1. Start with You Know Who
Your referral network MUST start at home with your immediate family and close friends. Since word of mouth has the potential to be your biggest business promoter, it will be a wasted opportunity if your family and friends are not the first ones to come over and invite their friends and acquaintances to your launch party, or opening night, or first show. The more people know about you, the more mouths will be able to promote you and generate business for you.
Another benefit of having your friends and family promote your brand or business is that they'll do the advertisement out of love for you. If 5 people in your immediate circle invite 3 people each, you end up with 15 potential clients! Hence, the beginning of a referral circle starts with the people you know and the people who know you. This starts a chain reaction of increasing your brand awareness, and if strategically played, can do very well in terms of expanding your business.
