10 Lessons to Learn From Corona
Quiet often the internet goes crazy over something, they call it a “trend” which unfortunately most of the time is something superficial. This time, it’s totally different, it’s much more than the blue dress challenge, more than that 10 years challenge, Ice bucket challenge, and definitely more critical than Kiki do you love me challenge!
It’s “Corona Virus” or as the doctors now call it, Covid- 19 and I think this medical crisis, has brought so many lessons to us, and here is my view on it:
1. Humanity is bigger than politics or religion
It is the things that unites all countries together, we all lifted our hands and prayed for the infected people and all prayed to God for recovery. Bait Al Allah was closed for the first time in history, mosques and churches were closed, but wherever you go and lift your hands, God is there hearing your prayers & sounds.
Governments stood with each other, USA Promised to spend up to $100 million to assist China and other countries impacted by coronavirus. UAE sent medicine and donations to Iran.
2. E-Learning is a solution not a problem
Having worked in Edtech previously, I have witnessed high resistance to use technology inside the classroom, be it from teachers, schools and even parents. Teachers are worried they are replaced; schools are worried about the budgets and parents are objecting because of the mindset “screen time damages the brain and affects creativity” (that is partially true – however only when misused).
With the corona Virus and the new measures suggested by ministries of education, only schools equipped with the right Education technology will be able to catch up the speed of learning and keep it the momentum, those who were resisting will find it difficult to adjust – especially when they are forced to-. E- learning will prove its results and best use cases after this crisis and we all to learn from that.
3. Online Shopping
If you have online shopping and still complaining about late deliveries or mismatching products, you are going to appreciate it now more than ever. Instashop is my favorite grocery shopping, Zomato will be my best food directory and for sure Amazon for everything else ??
4. Working Remotely is not for moms only
There are so many initiatives now a days trying so hard to convince companies to hire mothers to work remotely and as much as it sounds like a “favor” to mothers, who end up being paid so much less in return of working from their own comfort, Corona crisis has proved that working remotely is a great option for companies, it’s cost effective, manageable, and less gossip & employees conflicts to solve.
5. one man's meat is another man's poison
Sales of Dettol and Lysol products have surged as the spread of the coronavirus outbreak continues. Obviously, hand washing with soap is one of the key health messages promoted by governments in the face of the outbreak, and Dettol and Lysol are two of the world's leading disinfectants. The disinfectant is seen as providing protection against the spread of the disease, although its effectiveness has not yet been scientifically proven.
6. Hygiene is not a choice, but a standard procedure
Airports, airlines, schools, play areas, Salons, theatres should ALWAYS take high measures of hygiene, this crisis has showed and shed light on so many service providers that are not taking these measures seriously on a regular basis. It’s time to change policies?
7. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure
Our ancestors said it better, and it still applies.
8. Grateful for previous experiences
What is great about Corona, is that we are really blessed and privileged that we live in 2020, back in history, whenever a nation faces the crisis of a virus or infection, millions of people used to die till doctors find out what’s the reason behind it or even find a cure. Now we have the amazing technologies that scan people while they walk in airports, advanced medicine procedures and high awareness from the public too.
9. We are All Together in This
Corona has united the word on one message, it has reminded us that we are all humans, behind our degrees, nationalities, economical and social status. No one is protected, we are all exposed to this virus!
