10 Key Takeaways from Neil Patel's Facebook Unlocked Course

Facebook has been one of the most influential platforms on the web. Hence, I decided to pursue Neil Patel’s Facebook Unlocked Course.

I would like to thank my Professor, Lissa Cupp, for teaching me great digital marketing techniques during my MBA program, inspiring me, encouraging me to keep learning, and introducing me to Neil Patel!

To begin with, one of the quotes by Mark Zuckerberg which stood out to me is that, “The thing that we are trying to do at Facebook, is just help people connect and communicate more efficiently”.

The Facebook Unlocked course has a total of 6 short videos. The course includes a welcome video with key Facebook statistics, how to set up a Facebook business page, different types of content, information on organic reach, Facebook Ads, and how to grow your brand.

I would like to highlight 10 key takeaways from the course which I believe are important in understanding why Facebook forms an essential part of omni-channel marketing:
  1. Facebook is the 3rd highest trafficked site in the world. It generates about 24.91 billion visits per month. The number of daily active users on Facebook are 1.8 billion. 66% of all millennials are on Facebook & 31% of US senior citizens are on Facebook.
  2. By setting up a business page, you can create brand awareness and promote word of mouth. You can share content, pictures and videos. You should post useful content before you begin to invite people to like the Facebook page for your business.
  3. You can creatively repurpose your Facebook content and share it on multiple platforms: Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and LinkedIn.
  4. The key is to upload photos and post personal experiences so that a customer might feel he knows you and is able to connect easily with you.
  5. A Facebook page allows you to make different offers, but please note that only pages with 100 or more followers can see this feature. It is important to set a limit for the number of claims that could be processed, and set an expiration date for the offer.
  6. Facebook Groups have become an integral part of selling different products and services. Facebook groups are trending like never before. You can invite people on groups, and invite them for events. People on the group tend to have discussions. Turn all notifications to receive updates on the group. There are 50 states in the US, which clearly determines the room for finding groups in your niche and posting content.
  7. Some of the different content ideas mentioned in the course include: Videos, Photos, Images, Text, User-generated content, Facebook live, Blog posts, Inspirational quotes, Bucket lists posts, Live Demos, Memes, Inspirational images, Questions, Quizzes, Games, Call to action, Infographics, Tips, How to posts, Facts, Comics, Summary, Vlog, Audio Segment, Course, Trending Topics, Gif, Advertisement, DIY, Nostalgic Photo, Throwback, Promotional discount, Trivia, Fun posts, FAQ, Answer Posts, Challenge posts, Free resources, Guide, Industry specific stats, Tutorial, etc. Podcasts are a growing trending. 32 % of US population listens to podcast monthly. You can experiment with different forms of content and start posting content that your audience will engage with in-order to retain active users. There is no one size fits all. Whatever is working, keep leveraging that.
  8. Facebook Ads is massive. Nearly 73% of Facebook’s ad revenue comes from mobile advertising. People create e-commerce sites and are using Facebook Ads to generate sales. Google Ads and Facebook Ads are super effective. So, it’s very important to use them. Relevant Ads often cost less and get more results. It is important to list down your advertising goals and budgets.
  9. One of the great techniques is to spark a conversation by showing something that users have not seen before, and giving them a chance to learn something that will stay with them.
  10. Facebook pixel is a great tool. It will help determine when you have a conversion and when you don’t. They can track a conversion whether it’s an email or conversion or any other thing.

In your Omni-channel strategy, if you want to successfully leverage the power of social media, you need to consider the role it plays in the lives of your consumers & discover how they communicate with different brands. Facebook owns Instagram, WhatsApp and is the largest social network. If you are not using Facebook in your marketing you’re missing out big time.
