2022 gave me my first taste of how effective sport can be as a marketing tool. As part of a UK brand awareness strategy, The Career Wallet Group explored Rugby League, Boxing, Football and Competitive Dance partnerships. 12 Months in, here are a few brief bullet points on what I found. I can honestly say that even I was surprised with the effectiveness. The points below are all performance based however there is also 1 point that I would like to outline separately, as this is more of a byproduct than anything else. This point is from a team building perspective. The Career Wallet Group collaborated with Betfred Super League Team, Salford Red Devils. A few of the team were already Rugby League fans however the majority of the team did not follow the game. 1 month into the partnership, our whole team were Salford Red Devils Fans. We were attending most games both home and away, all together as a team and bringing our families along. This is not something that we expected or accounted for but in a time where most businesses are competing for talent & rightfully trying to improve mental health in the workplace, this is a point that cannot be overlooked.
