10 INNOVATIVE EXCUSES FOR DELAYING PAYMENT

10 INNOVATIVE EXCUSES FOR DELAYING PAYMENT

With the kind of downturn one is seeing, we get to hear so many excuses for not paying vendors. Here are some innovative excuses that Companies can use.

  1. Signing authority has injured his right thumb therefore unable to sign the check
  2. We lost the password of our account so unable to perform RTGS
  3. Our bank is not issuing check book as their printer has gone on vacation
  4. We have received your Invoice but unable to trace the material for which you have sent the Invoice
  5. We have mistakenly accepted your material as free sample therefore it will take some time to reverse the entry.
  6. Signing authority is in ICU for normal medical check up. He is otherwise doing fine and will issue check as soon as he is declared fit.
  7. Car parking is flooded due to rain therefore I am unable to get out of my car and reach office and therefore unable to sign your check
  8. A buffalo ate the file that had your check in it. Will take a couple of months to reissue the check once we have received an affidavit from you.
  9. We wrongly transferred the money to our lawyer’s account instead of your account. Request you to follow up with him and ask him to write a check in your favour.
  10. All the money was spent in our Son’s wedding. Waiting for the Girl’s father to return 50% of the total spent. Should receive the same in the next 1 month once the bride and bridegroom return from Honeymoon and are still together. Expect your payment anytime after that.

Any other innovative ideas guys!!!

At least in India, payment date promised are not considered sacrosanct. They are very casual about promised dates unless secured by some collateral or any financial instrument. Very few orgzns will be punctual with payment dates. The attitude of payer is pathetic & lack discipline, even shameless at times. I face this situation quite often. Asking for money due or earning good money thru proper business in India is considered like sin. People quickly get offended when chased for our money which is due.
