10 highlights from 10 years at Gousto

Every time you eat Gousto, you cut 7 kilos of CO2 emissions, which is 23% less than a supermarket shop! With 60% of UK food being ultra-processed (yikes), choosing Gousto is not just delicious - it's much healthier!
10 years ago, Gousto had fewer than 50 customers, packed boxes in the office and had just 10 people in the team. Fast forward to today and we’re delivering millions of meals each week, to families across the UK, with every box having a positive impact on people and the planet.?
There is so much I am thankful for, and SO much we have achieved, but here are 10 highlights, from the past 10 years, that I’d love to share:?
1. In 2012, we offered just 10 recipes, with a 10 day lead time (and only available on certain days of the week). Today, we offer over 60 recipes PER WEEK.
2. In 2013, we set up our first factory (though far less advanced than how we operate today); 300,000 meals were eaten by Gousto customers - a huge uptake on 2012’s 75,000. We also completed our first institutional investment round.
3. In 2015, we opened our first full-scale factory - Springfields in Spalding, Lincolnshire. Over 2 million meals were delivered!
4. 2016 saw the launch of our mobile apps - a huge tech advancement for us and one that contributed to over 3.5 million meals being eaten.
5. In 2018, we moved into our Shepherd’s Bush, London office and haven’t looked back!?
6. We are always working hard to reduce plastic packaging from our boxes, and in 2019 we saved over 100 tonnes via inventive solutions. Subsequent innovations, like our Eco Chill boxes and edible stock sachets, have also massively contributed to the reduction in the last 2 years.

7. We became a profitable Unicorn in 2020 - an extremely proud moment for me. We also opened our second factory (Clay Lake, also in Spalding) and grew to 1000+ employees.
8. In 2021, we became B Corp certified - another super proud moment. Gousto was founded with a mission to reduce food waste. Since then our positive impact has grown enormously, with each weekly box reducing carbon emissions by a massive 23% compared to an equivalent supermarket shop.
9. We doubled our team, from 1,000 to 2,000, during 2021. I’m SO grateful to our People Team, and everyone involved in hiring, for welcoming such passionate and talented individuals.
10. In early 2022, we welcomed world-class investors with a +$300m vote of confidence in our vision.
It amazes me that we’ve achieved so much, but the best part is that we’re still just getting started. The last 10 years have been the ride of my life and I wouldn’t be here without the hard work, dedication and passion of every single person working at Gousto. Here’s to the next 10 years!?

2 年Happy 10th anniversary! I've used Gousto for a long time now and am evangelical about it to others. Great to see this grow to the success it is today. Next feature i'd love to see is the ability to scale up to 6-8 portions of one meal for the calendar points in the year (like Easter). As a long-time fan i'd also love and appreciate some sort of loyalty scheme for advocacy (how many people referred, no of boxes delivered, posts on social etc). Keep up the good work!
