“It is the misfortune of contemporary leaders across the whole spectrum of Australian life that the community’s demand for strong leadership is growing in direct proportion to our lack of confidence in ourselves. The end of this century is an unusually difficult time to be a leader in Australia” – Hugh Mackay
Hugh Mackay is an Australian?psychologist,?social researcher, the author of at least 14 books, and in 2015, he was appointed an?Officer of the Order of Australia?for distinguished service to the community in the areas of social research and psychology.
Hugh’s quote on leadership is something we need to pay attention to.
Leadership isn’t about positions and titles, it’s about connection and purpose for something bigger than us as individuals.
In my business, I work with a lot of talented, passionate, and committed executives and business owners who at times lack confidence and trust in what they have to offer. ?Despite my professional profile, I also have moments of doubt and fear that I’m not good enough.
As humans, we all have our fair share of battle scars and can feel like imposters, but despite this, we also have unique experiences and skills to offer for the betterment of our community.
For the sake of humanity and the planet, it’s important to feel confident about who we are so that we can live with passion and purpose. Imagine what we could globally achieve if everyone had their light on and was empowered to play to their strengths and amplify them…
Now is the time to be the leaders we’re looking for!
I know this is easier said than done, and that the sheer volume of leadership books and advice can be overwhelming. I believe that the knowledge of what we need to do is already within our grasp and that the best way to cut through the noise is to ask ourselves better questions.
Great questions are what save me, and my clients, when we’re stuck and need solutions. They’re important for everyone who wants to create a positive presence, influence, and impact on the people and things they care about.
