FEEL AT A LOSS OF WHAT TO DO IN THIS SH??TSHOW? Me too. Never have I been more worried about my family, finances or the state of the world. I made this list to make me feel better. If you have any more good (or at least ok) ideas that are totally free to do, let me know in the comments below.
1) Become a Red Cross Community Reserve volunteer. It's free and they will only call on you if things get worse. https://reserves.redcross.org.uk/
2) When you food shop, get something, even just ONE thing for the local food bank.
3) If you can, also offer to volunteer at your local food bank, many existing volunteers are high risk and will be unable to help at this difficult time.
4) Reach out and send a text to your friends, arrange a virtual meetup on Zoom or Skype. Play charades or heads up with them. Laughter is vital. We lose our dopamine receptors in our brain if we don't use them, so we need to keep happy.
5) Self-isolate (but you knew that already).
6) Tweet your local MP or email them to put pressure on offering better support to all the f*cking businesses Boris has told you to avoid but not given any actual grants or official notices so they can't claim insurance or pay their staff. If you don't know who they are you can find them here ----> https://members.parliament.uk/members/Commons
7) Email anyone your business owes money to. If you can, pay them. If you can't, tell them you are working on a solution and keep communicating with them. If you can't write a list of whom you owe and get on the phone to your bank and check out the UK Coronavirus Business Interruption Scheme via British Business Bank .
8) Email everyone that owes YOU money and see if they need longer to process payment or want to jump on the phone to discuss. Connect with people. We are in this together.
9) Download the Headspace app. They are offering additional free meditations to help 'weather the storm'. Put yourself first. You can not help others if you are in need. https://www.headspace.com/covid-19
10) Have a cup of tea. Share this article and tag some people you know to spread the word.
