10 Favorite and Most Festive Events in Columbus 2019
Well, we didn't get much of a break between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It seems we've been violently shoved directly into the holiday season and it's already December 2. If you're looking to get in the mood quicker because, remember, there's less than three weeks until Christmas, here are some of Columbus' favorite and most festive things to do.
#1. Village lights.
This is a family favorite and not just ours but for many Columbus residents. The streets of German Village as well as restaurants, shops, and homes. You'll have to visit on December 8 from 5 PM until 9 PM throughout German Village. It's definitely a sight worth taking in.
#2. Franklin Park Conservatory.
The Conservatory Aglow at Franklin Park Conservatory is lit up through January 5 from 5 PM until 9 PM at 1777 E. Broad Street in Columbus. This is a beautiful place to just be in our, wander around, and enjoy the festive lights and decorations.
#3. Wild lights at Columbus Zoo.
Also through January 5 from 5 PM to 9 PM on Sunday through Thursday and open until 10 PM Fridays and Saturdays at 4850 Powell Rd. in Powell Ohio is the wonderful Wild Lights at the View. Many people say this gets better every single year and it is now one of our favorite holiday traditions. There's millions of lights on everything that will stand still and a lot of things that don't stand still. You can even check out Rudolph the red nose reindeer 4D theater event.
#4. Wonder lights.
Also through January 5 from 5:30 PM until 10 PM in Hebron Ohio at 2650 National Rd. SW. is a drive-through Christmas light show. This is located at the National Trail Raceway and is a 2-mile car ride through more than 1 million lights all synchronized to music. Cuddle up in your car, bring your hot cocoa, and enjoy the view.
#5. The Nutcracker.
Located at the Ohio Theater at 39 E. State Street in downtown December 13 through the 28th is the classic holiday favorite The Nutcracker.
#6. Columbus Commons and Lazarus Windows.
Just a few blocks from Bicentennial Park is Columbus Commons, which is filled with holiday displays and lights at the corner of High and Town in the old Lazarus building. They will have scenes from the 12 Days of Christmas starting on December 7 and a free Santa workshop.
#7. Huntington holiday train.
Located at 96 South Grand Ave. through early January is the Huntington holiday train at the Main Library. This is an amazing set up and something not to miss if you're looking for a few beautiful and outrageous displays.
#8. The Columbus Museum of Art.
Now is the time for one of the biggest Lego replicas of Columbus to be displayed at the Museum of Art. Admission is free on Sundays and on Thursday nights you can pay whatever you want from 5 PM to 9 PM. The museum is located at 480 E. Broad Street in downtown and the unique event will run through January 17.
#9. Carriage rides at Easton at Christmas time.
Beginning November 16 at 160 Easton Town Ctr. in Columbus is a life-size Nativity and huge Christmas tree covered in millions of lights. Families can enjoy carriage rides, food, shopping, and live music performances.
#10. Butch Bando's Fantasy of Lights.
Through January 1 Sunday through Thursday 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM and Friday and Saturday from 5:30 PM until 10:30 PM at the Alum Creek State Park Grounds at 3311 S. Old State Rd. in Delaware is the annual Butch Bando's Fantasy of Lights. This 3 mile drive through the light show features millions of brilliant lights, displays, and synchronized music exhibits. If you live close to Delaware, don't miss this great event.
