<1> Work with limited resources

You need to do the best with what you got, you would never have unlimited funds, manpower, knowledge or time (or air).

<2> Stay Calm

Few deep breaths can always reduce the unavoidable stress. When you are not calm, not only you are sub performing but this is also impacting your team.

<3> Always have a backup plan

Situation can change, elements may fail, things will break. Be sure to always have some contingencies ready for the various scenarios.

<4> Importance of policies and procedures

The rules and regulation are usually there to protect and help you. Following these may save you.

<5> Have clear goals and instructions to get there

Communicate exactly, clearly and concisely what is expected from each person in your team and how they should get there from where they are now.

<6> Different equipment for different purposes

The same gear, skills, tools, team or individuals are not always fitting for different tasks. Learn to utilize the best configuration setup based on the specific circumstances.

<7> Know where everybody is

Without falling into unnecessary micromanagement, you should always be aware where all your team members are (in their project, their state of mind or location).

<8> Be ready to lend help

When you lead a team of a dive, always remember that you are the closest, available resource for them. Jumping in and assisting at early phase can save later troubles.

<9> Learn to move in different directions

Versatility may be critical in dynamic types of businesses. Paths that worked yesterday may not work tomorrow. Be able to change your direction as dictated by the environment.

<10> Understand the view of your team

People may feel uncomfortable in situation that you are super confident in. Try to put yourself in their shoes and see the situation from their eyes.
