10 days Gorillas, wildlife safari and white water rafting, and visit to the source of river Nile. Jinja is in the Eastern part of Uganda most popular for the source of the mighty river Nile, the longest river in the world.

Our 10 days gorillas, white water rafting of river Nile and wildlife safari, take you to Mambaba swamps to search for the shoe bill stock, before proceeding to Jinja, the city of source of the River Nile, white water rafting, kibale forest for chimpanzee tracking, queen Elizabeth national park, and bwindi impenetrable forests for the mountain gorillas trekking safari.

Ecologically, Uganda is where the East African savannah meets the West African Jungle. Where else but in this impossibly lush country can one observe lions prowling the open plains in the morning and?track chimpanzees ?through the rain forest undergrowth the same afternoon, then the next day navigate tropical channels teeming with hippo and crocodiles before setting off into the misty mountains to stare deep into eyes of the Mountain Gorillas!

Safari Itinerary

Shoe Bill Stock in Mabamba Island, Gorillas and Rafting the Nile River.

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe airport,?or from your hotel?and drive to Mabamba swampy area is only about s 20minutes drive away, it is found at the edge of Lake Victoria and for birders that would love to see the birds in this area, wooden boats and or canoes to find these birds. This Island is commonly known for the?Shoebill Stork ?that is said to keep hidden in the water weeds while waiting for the fish before they can actually get back into the deeper waters. Shoebills have their homes in Papyrus and will at times live on land however; the land has to oversee the waters.

The shoebill occurs in extensive, dense freshwater marshes. Almost all wetlands that attract the species have undisturbed?Cyperus papyrus?and reed beds of?Phragmites?and?Typha. Although their distribution largely seems to correspond with the distribution of papyrus. lunch enroute to Jinja

Day 2: Visit Source of River Nile, Busowoko falls, Itanda falls, Speke moment, Sunset boat cruise, and Quad Biking.

?Morning breakfast and after we drive straight to?Busowoko falls, for tubing and laxation and later drive to the former Bujagali falls Area for Quad bike for 1hrs, if we still have time we drive to Kayunga road 15-20mins drive from Jinja main town for horseback riding for also 1hour, later we proceed to the source of the Nile the place where the mightiest river on earth begins its majestic journey towards Egypt. This is a spot where John Speke first discovered the source of the Nile River, accessed by a boat ride. And later we retire to the hotel.

Day 3: White Water Rafting of Nile River Falls Jinja for 20kms.

After breakfast and briefing, all participants will be transferred to the banks of the river Nile, Whitewater rafting is a great spot that teaches how to remain calm under great pressure. The opportunity to do Whitewater rafting from the longest river on earth is amazing. The river Nile has been a source of water for several civilizations. Whitewater rafting in Jinja takes you in the middle of the river Nile while passing through chaotic and turbulent rapids. The Nile rapids in Jinja are graded 4 and 5 and offer the best Whitewater rafting experiences in Africa. The rapids flow with more volume and power than those in river Zambezi. Although the recent construction of the Bujagali and Isimba dams have led to the destruction of some of the Grade five rapids like Namizi, The Bad Place and Kyabirwa, Whitewater rafting remains intact,

Day 4st?July 2023: Transfer to Kibale National park – Fort portal for Chimpanzee tracking.

Take your breakfast and proceed to Kibale national park via Hoima to Fort portal for 7hrs, lunch enroute and arrive late in kibale national park. Ahigh light of visit to Kibale National Park will be the Chimpanzee tracking excursion that starts from Kanyankyu at 0800hrs and 1400hrs daily. Encountering man’s closest cousin is stands at over 95% according to 2006 statistics.

Day 7th?July 2023: Queen Elizabeth National park Game drive and launch cruise.?

Wake up early in the mornings and take cup of tea or coffee. Go for a game drive along Kasenyi track to see the herds of Buffalo, Elephant, Warthog and Lion. Return to the lodge for mid-morning breakfast. After lunch, a two-hour launch cruise along the Kazinga channel proffers visitors a unique opportunity to encounter at close quarters hippo and a variety of bird species common to the park.

DAY 9th?July 2023: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

After breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters by 7:00am for briefing about the gorilla’s life style and tracking guidelines.

Around 8:00 am we embark on the highlights of gorilla trekking safari, which may last for the entire day. We trek through the rain forest and bamboo covered slopes, accompanied by a park ranger, porters and other trackers, in search of a mountain gorilla family.

The walking can sometimes be tough and long, but when you catch a glimpse of the magnificent silverback, any discomforts will be quickly forgotten. When sighted, visitors will be guided to within 6metres from the mountain gorillas, sit around them for a whole hour while gazing into their big round eyes, observing their behaviors and taking photos for the memorable experience.

It’s difficult to foresee how many hours you will hike; gorilla excursion can take from 2 up to 8 hours. Expect to walk along distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. A good physical condition is recommended. For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. A ranger will brief you on how to behave with the gorillas.

After this gorilla safari tour, you will descend back to the park headquarters were you will be awarded with gorilla trekking certificates for participation in gorilla trekking activities thus contributing in the gorilla conservation.

In the evening you can relax around a campfire or take walk to Batwa pygmies the original forest dwellers who will demonstrate their living lifestyle and later retire to the lodge.

DAY 10th?July 2023: Transfer to Entebbe Airport

Early in the morning after breakfast you will travel back to Entebbe, On the way back to the Entebbe airport you will have lunch in Mbarara town, and after Masaka there will be an opportunity to a stop at the Equator for photo shoots and buying souvenirs and have tea or coffee and proceed to Entebbe airport for an onwards
