10 Books To Read In 2022

It's time to set your reading goals for the year! These are some of the books I read in the last quarter of 2021 and absolutely loved - so here goes the list!

10 Books To Read In 2022:

1.Die with Zero: Getting All You Can from Your Money and Your Life?- Bill Perkins

A transformative philosophy for many of us who have always been told to delay all our gratification - study, work hard, save & invest, retire and then have fun.

What happens if you die before?

What will you do with all your savings if you don't have the health/ age to enjoy experiences?

Bill Perkins shows us how to plan strategically and enjoy life now, today, while responsibly saving up for the future. So you can die with 'Zero' in your bank account but live a full life.

2. Do Epic Shit - Ankur Warikoo

Well, this one deserves a review of it's own. Ankur Warikoo is my digital mentor - someone you see online and learn from constantly. His first book, 'Do Epic Shit' is a motivational book like no other.

His book, much like Naval Ravikant's almanack is a guide to philosophy of life, career, finances and relationships.

Even non- readers will like this - you can just open up to any page and read the pithy lines.

3. Four Thousand Weeks: Embrace your limits. Change your life - Oliver Burkeman

All you have is four thousand weeks. That's all. How will you decide to live live to the fullest in these weeks?

Oliver Burkeman gives us all a much needed lesson for life - how can you live better and challenge the inertia and monotony of life?

What if you didn't act like you had unlimited weekends to just laze away? What would you do?

4. Booming Digital Stars: 11 Inspiring Journeys from India’s Creator Economy?- Harsh Pamnani and Manish Pandey

Would you like to know how the biggest YouTubers in India became popular? It chronicles the rise of the creator economy in India.

Read about the 11 inspiring journeys of India's renowned creators, including Nikunj Lotia,?Kabita Singh, Team Naach, Abhi and Niyu, Ujjwal Chaurasia, and Madan Gowri.?

The authors have interviewed them and each story is riveting.

5. Courage Is Calling: Fortune Favours the Brave - Ryan Holiday?

"Be Not Afraid" is repeated a lot in the Bible. How do fear and courage shape our life?

Ryan Holiday explores the most foundational virtue of all: Courage.

He breaks down the elements of fear, an expression of cowardice, the elements of courage, an expression of bravery, and lastly, the elements of heroism, an expression of valor.

The book has engaging stories about historic and contemporary leaders, including Charles De Gaulle, Florence Nightingale, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - they show you how to conquer fear and practice courage in your daily life.

6. Hamnet - Maggie O'Farrell

A lovely novel set in the Elizabethan age, reimagining Shakespeare's writing of Hamlet, based on his own 11-year-old son, Hamnet.

How much does life affect art? Does art make life/ loss of it immortal? Should artists have families when their first muse is art? The novel explores all these questions and more.

The story is told from the perspective of his wife, Anne Hathaway and was just a beautiful, poignant story about love of the theatre, parenthood and creativity.

7. Educated - Tara Westover

What if you came from a family that considered education and modern medicine as a sin? What if they kept you trapped in cycle of ignorance and abuse? How would you break free and get educated if you didn't even have a birth certificate, proving your existence?

Educated is this riveting memoir by the American author Tara Westover. Westover recounts overcoming her survivalist Mormon family and her struggles in order to go to college, and emphasizes the importance of education in enlarging her world.

8. The Authenticity Project - Clare Pooley

A feel good novel about the human condition. An ageing, lonely artist writes his 'truth' in a notebook. He calls it the 'The Authenticity Project' and he leaves it in a local cafe.

This leads to a circle of events and changes the lives of everyone who discovers the notebook and writes their truth in it.

Loved the heartwarming story of love, loss, death and human connection - the importance of community.

9. Anxious People - Fredrik Backman

Black comedy is something I really enjoy. Anxious People is one such book.

It is a poignant comedy about a crime that never took place, a would-be bank robber who disappears into thin air, and eight extremely anxious strangers who find they have more in common than they ever imagined.

It makes you wonder - Do we really know what is going on in someone's life? How can we open up and share our anxiety and sorrow?

10. The Code Breaker: Jennifer Doudna, Gene Editing, and the Future of the Human Race - Walter Isaacson

What if our evolutionary genetic code could be cracked and modified so we could all live healthier, happier lives?

This book is an account of how Nobel Prize winner Jennifer Doudna and her colleagues launched a revolution that will allow us to cure diseases, fend off viruses, and have healthier babies.

She and her collaborators turned a curiosity of nature into an invention that will transform the human race: a morally controversial, easy-to-use tool that can edit DNA. Known as CRISPR, it opened a brave new world of medical miracles and moral questions.
