10 Best Posts That Made Me Going This Week.
Twice a day I am on the train with people I do not know. Very defined time box of 30 minutes, completely sealed from the rest of my life by the gates of two trains stations. My challenge is to think of an idea, take a picture, write the headline and text, design the cover and publish an interesting post… while I am on the train.
You know me, everything must be branded, so “THE DAILY TRAINER” Is born.
This Week Was Special For Many Good Reasons:
? First, #Elementor. We are attending #WordCamp US ????(https://2019.us.wordcamp.org), The biggest #Wordpress event of the year.
? Next, The Holidays ??... they are over, finely behind us. Workwise this is great.
? Last but not least, I have met @Emil Kahn on the train twice, and Haim Barki a meaningful once. Both of them got on the trainer with posts of their own. Look for it in the posts below. ??
Enjoy the Ride.
Morning. October, 27th. 2019:
The difference is so dramatic that it looks like a montage of two pictures. The train is a "Space Ship," a pressurized capsule of people with a destination, totally disengage from the surrounding environment the train is passing thru.
In a sense, projects, especially startups, are like that. You and your team are sitting in glass walls meeting rooms, watching the scenery of the rest of the company passing by, totally unaware that you are on the way for the next big thing.
Night. October, 27th. 2019:
Everything we do has a reflection. Everything we do reflect back on us. Do you like your reflection?
At work, in a relationship, with friends, family, even with opponents, the way we act, lead, respond, all reflect back on us. The reflection dabbles whatever we are doing, giving everybody another angle on us and for us, the opportunity to see our selves in the eyes of others.
Morning. October, 28th. 2019:
This is Empathy. Seeing the other side and try to relate to his / her story. It is very different from solidarity, when you actually "leave your platform" and join the other side.
At work, as a manager, it is essential to develop a strong sense of empathy and to be genuinely empathetic with your employees, employers, peers, providers, and customers... without taking their position.
When does empathy becomes solidarity? Well... As long as you stay "on your platform," it is Empathy. And if you like to be safe, don't cross the yellow line.
Night. October, 28th. 2019:
The Yellow Bricks Road will take you all the way, from one end of the platform to the other. However, if your ambition is bigger then that, at some point, you will have to leave the yellow bricks road and get on the train.
At work, are you following "The Yellow Bricks Road," or actually getting somewhere?
Morning. October, 29th. 2019:
On my journey to work, I use 4 different means of transportation. The one missing from the picture is the most important one... the train.
Pictures tell a story. However, it is only a slice, a snapshot of a biggers tory, and might be misleading or just missing the most crucial part of the story.
At work, we get "pictures" from reports, from conversation to colleagues, customers, magazines, and others. Don't settle in a glimpse or a headline and a picture. Cross data sources, look deeper... Get for the full story.
Night. October, 29th. 2019:
The tracks are not dangerous, the train is. However, the fence, originally designed to keep us safe, is an obstacle, an actual barrier that might slow you down if you try to cross, exposing you to the dangers of a passing train.
Things are not always what they seem. Their meaning might change in different use cases. Working on a project, are you aware and truly understand all the implications of your product?
Morning. October, 30th. 2019:
Whatever you are doing, If you truly like to enjoy it, have some friends "riding" with you.
I just met @emil Kahn on the train, Isn't that great?!
Night. October, 30th. 2019:
I love this moment, with the bus on the bridge, the footbridge above the railway, and the train. For a moment, even the sun was just in the right place, next to the bus...
It made me think. They are all competing for a place in the frame, and also for people to use them... but on the other hand, together they make the picture and also bring people to each other. So, are they competing or Complementary?
At work, are you competing or Complementary to others
Morning. October, 31th. 2019:
It uses to be that "Today’s news is tomorrow’s fish and chip papers," or at least "tomorrow's history."
Today the minute the newspaper is ready for print, it is already history. This day, everything is Online, Updatable. Live, As it is happening. The newspapers are still fighting for distribution. However, the people coming to the station are more updated then the newspaper offered to them for free.
It might be time for the newspaper to update their name to Oldspapers.
At work, you build procedures, do researches, you share information. The reports and presentations you are writing, are they live, updated regularly, and connected to online sources, or are they Oldspapers?
Night. October, 31th. 2019:
The train was 20 minutes late... However, the reward was worth it!!! On the last train home (For this week) with @Emil Kahn and Haim Barki. It was a great ride.
Working on projects or taking mega tasks, it is always much more fun and efficient to do it with good friends who share a common goal and have the same mind track.
Enjoy the weekend.
