7 年What about security and legal liability? How far can we go to get a deleted email? How is intellectual property protected? When it comes to cost, I am sure there is a crossover point in number of users beyond which internal infrastructure has cost benefit over cloud.

7 年It does depend on what a client wants from an Intranet though. If the requirement is for a highly customised (branded) intranet used mainly for content management, then Office 365 may not be the best approach. Yes, it does have the savings in infrastructure etc. but also the evergreen approach of new features and UI changes being pushed out can cause confusion and operational management issues. Also systems integration with other Enterprise applications may be an issue. If however you mainly want collaboration, document storage / retrieval, search and very lightweight branding or customisation, then Office 365 can be a good way forward. Whilst I am a big advocate of Office 365, I am aware of it's limitations compared with an on-premis installation

7 年One of the key disadvantages in moving to the cloud with an Enterprise, is re-writing the custom code.

7 年Hi Krunal, I totally agree with this statement and the benefits; We deployed an Office 365/Sharepoint Intranet recently for a customer and many more benefits were discovered actually throughout the different deployment stages. The customer was heavily engaged throughout the whole process which helped a great deal, the project kept extending as the customer realised what else was possible.
