10 Behaviors to Stay Healthy and Relaxed
It’s said that buying or selling a home is one of the top three most stressful things in life – and we do it every week for others! Too often, we don’t take time to properly care for ourselves.
Here are three things we all can do each day to keep stress at bay:
1. Smile and laugh out loud. It keeps you grounded and helps you cope with situations that would otherwise make you crazy. Read the comics, watch a sitcom, or tell jokes to bring out those happy feelings. Here’s an idea: Go to lunch with a fellow Realtor, and compare funny real estate stories that have happened to you. That will get you laughing!
2. Meditate, pray or otherwise find some quiet time for at least 10-20 minutes each day. Contemplation is good for your soul, helps you cope with the demands of daily life and may even help lower your blood pressure. Studies have shown that those who take a break in the middle of the day are far more productive for the remainder of the day. And far less stressed.
3. Have a positive attitude. Do your best to look at life as if "the glass is half full." You must believe in yourself, have good support systems and think positively to succeed. We all face challenges on a daily basis, but how we approach those challenges is what makes the difference. When faced with a challenge, ask: “How can I approach this situation to get the best possible outcome?”
Here’s to a happy and HEALTHY week ahead! If there’s anything I can do to help you on your journey, call or text me! I’m happy to help.
Something to Think About
The best advice I was given as a young person was this: “You can only control that which is in your control. Trying to control things which you cannot control is just plain silly!”
Weekly Challenge
This week, while you’re waiting in traffic or in line at a store and feel yourself getting stressed, just look at the person holding up the line or the traffic and say to yourself: “Bless his/her little heart!” Then smile and think of something positive.
Words of Wisdom
“You need to learn how to select your thoughts just the same way you select your clothes every day. This is a power you can cultivate. If you want to control things in your life so bad, work on the mind. That's the only thing you should be trying to control.” – Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love
