Struggling to establish yourself on LinkedIn? You're not the only one. But here's the thing - your LinkedIn brand is essentially your professional reputation. The better you curate it, the more opportunities it unlocks.
Michael Quinn , a 3x LinkedIn Top Voice, knows this all too well. He's coached countless individuals to leverage a simple method to dramatically expand their network and brand: the 10-5-3 Rule.
Here's how it works:
Connect with 10 people daily. (It adds up!)
Every day, send out 10 connection requests to people in the industries, locations, and companies that interest you. This consistent effort is key. By strategically targeting your requests, you'll build a network where you need it.
A few things to keep in mind -?
?-> Pro Tip: LinkedIn typically allows around 20-25 connection requests per day and up to 100 per week.
Engage with 5 posts daily. (You’ll become a thought leader by association.)
As your network grows, content from your new connections will populate your feed. Michael Quinn recommends you select 5 posts each day that resonate with you and contribute meaningful comments that add value to the conversation.
This engagement will help you organically cultivate relationships by initiating conversations with individuals who share similar backgrounds or interests. By actively participating in these discussions, you’ll position yourself in front of your new connections, increasing the likelihood that your own content will resonate with them as well.
Consistent commenting not only fosters familiarity within your network but also has the potential to spark further dialogue. Over time, this engagement allows you to forge meaningful relationships grounded in shared interests and expertise.
Share content 3 times a week. (This helps you establish yourself as an expert.)
Aim to post something on LinkedIn at least 3 times a week. Ideally, this includes original content that highlights your expertise and resonates with your network.
For example, a simple photo from an event or gathering with friends is a great way to “check in” with your network and foster relationships.

If you’re only comfortable sharing curated content, that’s perfectly acceptable – just make sure you include your own perspective. The goal is to add your voice. Briefly explain why you're sharing the content and what value you see in it.
Over a year, this consistent sharing (around 150 posts) positions you as a thought leader in your field. People will start associating you with your area of expertise.
