1 Year at Share!
A couple of weeks ago Kirsty Ritchie, Share’s Financial Controller, celebrated her first year at Share.
Kirsty joined the team in January 2023 and with the help of Julia, our Finance and Business Executive, she is responsible for all things Finance at Share. Kirsty has reflected on her journey joining Share and her experience over the last year.
"I started my career as a trainee accountant in 2005 after completing an HNC in Accountancy and Finance at college. In 2010, while working for a local firm, I qualified as a Chartered and Certified Accountant and after several years gaining experience of different sectors, I made the decision to move into Industry, opting to work for a large outsourcing company.
During my time in practice, I had specialised in Charity accounting and always knew that I wanted to return to this sector at some stage in my career. When the opportunity to join Share came along, it felt like the right decision.

I joined Share at quite a tricky time personally, having been made redundant whilst on maternity leave with our youngest daughter. It’s fair to say that I had questioned a lot during my time away from work, including whether another role in finance was even the right move for me. I am however both relieved and very happy to confirm that taking the position of Financial Controller at Share was a great move and I have thoroughly enjoyed my first year here. Working with a team who are so supportive and passionate about what they do is refreshing and they couldn’t have made me feel more welcome.
My first few months at Share were busy to say the least, with lots to pick up and run with from day one! From what I have learned so far from my time at Share, this is a trend that is set to continue. As an organisation, we are constantly looking to evolve our services and provide excellent benefits to our members. The next few months will see the launch of our new and improved membership offering and the Finance team are currently busy developing new systems to support this transition.
My first 12 months at Share have flown by and as our organisation continues to expand and develop, I am excited for the future ahead, both personally and for the organisation."
