The 1-Year Challenge: Master the Skills That Will Set You Apart in 2024
Hi Team,
I’m Tarun, and I have taken on a one-year challenge to give back to our community by sharing what I’ve learned over the past nine years of working with six startups. I will share my insights on how to find a job, how to clear an interview, sales, management, leadership, startup and business, money/finance, and entrepreneurship, and how I have taken each step to be in the top 1%.
When I started my career, I was excited to do everything—make more money, move up quickly, and get to the top. Many of you feel the same way. But after nine years of working, I learned an important lesson: you don’t have to do everything at once. You need to know the right skills to stand out in the long run.
About five to ten percent of Indian workers have formal skills. This is not very high compared to places like Germany (75%), South Korea (96%), and others. It indicates that it is more important than ever to focus on getting the right skills to achieve.
I am launching a one-year challenge in which I will teach you everything I have learnt over the past ten years in step-by-step weeks. This challenge will help you do better than I did and reach the top faster.
In the early stages of my work, I was more interested in getting ahead quickly than building a solid skills base. This made people angry and caused problems. Not only is getting successful hard, but staying successful by being in the top 1% of your field is even more challenging. To do that, you need to be good at the essential things.
Research shows that people with more advanced skills are 2.5 times more likely to get better-paying jobs and progress faster.
We’ll work on one important skill every month for the next 12 months, so you’ll have a solid base by the end of the year.
How to Find a Job: The best way to find a job is to learn how to make links that lead to job offers and stand out in a crowded job market.
Up to 80% of opportunities are filled via networking, not through posted jobs. This month, we’ll focus on how to find a job.
How to Do Well in an Interview: We’ll talk about everything, from how to deal with tough questions to how to make a good impression.
Studies in the field have shown that a well-prepared interview can boost one’s chances of getting a job by 70%.
Sales: Everyone needs to be good at sales, whether they’re selling a product, an idea, or themselves.
The research says that 57% of the work is done before buying anything. As a salesperson, you need to complete the remaining 43%. We’ll show you how to make a difference right away.
Management: Learn how to lead and inspire a group of people to do their best.

90% of new businesses fail in the first five years. We’ll discuss ways to ensure you’re among the 10% who succeed.
Money/ Finance: Understanding both personal and business finances is important for long-term success.
A world survey on financial literacy found that knowing about money can help you make more money over your lifetime.
Entrepreneurship: Developing the toughness and imagination needed to be a successful business owner.
65% of kids starting elementary school today will work in jobs that don’t exist yet, so it will be very important for them to be able to think like entrepreneurs.
For one year, you’ll work hard to get as many skills as possible that put you in the top 1% of your area. You’ll feel more sure of yourself, capable, and ready to take advantage of any chances that come your way.
The skills you learn will be helpful in your current job and will help you be successful in any future endeavours.
You can learn these things in just one year, which took me nine years. Remember that having the right skills will make you stand out, not doing everything at once.
Take on this one-year challenge with me and watch your job change. Remember that action is what matters. Don’t be afraid to fail; keep learning and ask questions.
Skills today, success tomorrow—join the 1-year challenge and start your journey to the top 1%.
Follow me on this one-year challenge, sharing how I learned all that in 11 years, which will get you to the Top 1%!
