The #1 reason we underperform?

Ever feel like you’re drowning with everything you have to do with work and personal stuff??
More times than not, we try to deal with it as best as we can without telling anyone that we’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed.
Being stressed and overwhelmed are two of the biggest reasons why we underperform.
Stressors can come from our personal lives or work.
And inevitably, personal stress can effect our work and vice versa.
When we’re stressed… we tend to hurry and just “grin and bear it”.
So the best question to ask yourself or someone on your team who’s stressed is so basic, most people never even consider it:
What specifically is causing the stress and what can be done about it?
Maybe it’s having that hard conversation you’ve been putting off.
Maybe it’s letting your stakeholders know you need more resources to get the job done.
But whatever it is, we have to slow down and assess what’s going on so we can make adjustments and hit the goals we’re aiming at.
Stress kills results.
It stops creative thinking, it prevents us from staying focused and it burns us out.
To stay at our best and help our teams work at their best, we need to understand what causes stress and how to quickly deal with it.
Good leaders and managers need to both have the skills to control their personal stress and that of their teams.
Stress can be dealt with.
To get in control of these feelings, you need to be in control of your thinking.
If you’re the role model and create a healthy team culture with psychological safety, your team will feel comfortable sharing their stress with you so you can help them.
It’s important to remove as much stress and overwhelm as possible so everybody can perform at their best.
Stress shouldn’t be worn like a badge of honor.
You’re not meant to merely “survive” it — you should manage it.
