It was time to come out of teaching retirement. Having regularly clocked at least 100 hours of teaching/facilitating a year,....I slowed down my teaching hours since I left HR to focus on growing the Talent Management capabilities in my business groups. I had after all as a Master Trainer, certified enough New Employee Orientation facilitators to keep the sessions in Asia self sufficiently.
However, a good friend has his first session this week and I too, loved to have a current session done to recertify myself.
A New Hire Orientation Class is Very Energizing.
You get to be the ambassador of the company's strategy. A believer to preach the 'Why'. A storyteller to narrate the vision. An opinion leader whom 40 students are forming their confidence that they made the right choice.
A New Hire Orientation Class is Very Rewarding.
Preparing a 1GB+ material and 50+ foils in a manner to inspire the audience isn't easy. Irregardless of how many times a trainer has done it previously. Every class audience is different. A key agreement I had with my co-instructor prior to the class is that we will give our best 100% even if only 1 attendee shows up. Well 40 of them eventually did.
2 sent me notes:
So why do I teach? Because I can (make a difference).
