1-Minute Wednesday No. 175: The Advantage of Knowing What No One Else Knows
Design A Life That Really Matters
The world of high jumping changed forever on October 20, 1968.?
Most experts watching the Olympic games that day expected American high jumper Dick Fosbury to come in dead last. Instead, he won gold.?
How did he do it when he failed to make his high school track team just a few years earlier?
He used all he knew about physical science to create a mechanical advantage, and it worked.
Instead of jumping over the bar straight forward like his competitors, he approached the bar backward, headfirst, curving his body and kicking his legs up in the air at the end like a parabola. This new “J” shaped approach changed the high jump forever.? Before him, no Olympic jumper had faced skyward. After him, all world record holders did.?
Leveraging the best of what others know is the first step to reaping the residual results of knowledge. It gives you a head start. But to exponentially increase your results, you must apply this knowledge in a new way. You must create knowledge that is unique to you.
Once you do this, you will be seen as the expert. Results will start to flow to you. You won’t have to force opportunities. Instead, you can choose the opportunities that are best suited to you.?
So here’s the next lever you can use to gain residual results in your life:
Become an expert on what no one else knows.
Is there something that seems hard for other people but easy for you? That is an opportunity for you to create unique knowledge.
Gaining unique knowledge is the ultimate leverage. It takes time, dedication, and effort, but invest in it once, and you’ll attract opportunities for the rest of your life.? ?

1 年Unique knowledge is created through unique perspective + unique thought patterns. Find the elements of your experiences and curiosity that give you a different perspective and insight from others. Then manifest that combination gently with confidence in every situation. This will “magically” unlock and release potential that nobody else imagined was possible.
