Hi everyone!
This is Fiona. Today I would like to say something about the fog condensation problem of headlights. If you have any other opinions, contact me, please!
Actually, the fog condensation is the natural and normal condition of the light. It will happen in the following reasons.
Number one: the change of temperature difference:
- Since most of the back covers of #headlights will have the ventilated rubber tube, the moisture in the air will enter the headlights through the rubber tube and attach to the lampshade. The most situations are caused by the temperature difference, which often happened in winter and rainy season.
- Also, it also easy occurs in the same situation when the lights are turned off immediately after the lights used for a long time. Therefore, the driver must develop the habit of checking the condition of the lights after driving in the rain.
Number two: the improper way to wash the car
- Many #drivers are fond of washing the engine compartment of the car by the high-pressure water gun, after that, there will have some water in the engine compartment that did not clear immediately. The water vapor can not release to the outside when the engine compartment cover is shut. It is possible that the #moisture in the engine compartment will enter to the interior of the headlights.
Number three: wading too deep
- Since the engine and the exhaust system of the car have a large heat source when the #car is wading, the rainwater will form a large amount of water vapor, and along the vent tube, part of the water vapor will enter the headlights.
Number four:over exposure to the sun
- If the car is exposed to the sun when the headlights turn off. The moisture of interior material of headlights will evaporate, and the temperature of the air in the lights will increase, it will happen the fog problems on the inner surface of the lampshade when the water reaches saturation.
Number five: defective seal of the headlights
- It also has the fog condensation situation. Maybe worse, it will cause the serious #wateringress problem.
So how to clear the foggy from the headlights?
- If caused by the change of temperature difference, the driver can turn on the headlights, the water mist in the lights will slowly disappear after 10-20 minutes. It should not put the lights baked at a high temperature because the materials of lights are generally made of plastic. If the baking temperature is too high, it is likely to cause the lights to soften and deform.
- If caused by the water, like washing the car, raining days, wading deep, you can open the dust cover of the lights and turn on the lights. After 10 minutes or longer, the water mist will begin to disappear. You do not have to worry if after 1 hour the headlights' mist is disappeared completely. However, if there is still exiting, you should go to the professional aftersales service station for the further process.
- For example: headlights from Qeedon
Below the two arrows parts, called waterproof and breathable membranes. They are made of the new type of polymer #waterproof material.
The functions are as follow:
1. Waterproof and breathable membranes can balance the pressure in all kinds of weather conditions, reduce condensed.
2. Promote moisture and vapor emissions.
3. Chemical resistance, high-temperature resistance, anti-aging
4. Prevent condensation and fogging and improve product life.
All in all, the functions of waterproof and breathable membranes are not only preventing from water ingress themselves, but they are also can work on the above functions. There are many different waterproof and breathable membranes in the market with different price. It will be better to choose the best one if you really want the headlights to be waterproof but easily moisture disappears.
3. If caused by the poor sealant, please check the below two parts.
- For example, headlight from Qeedon:
On the one hand, we use the American brand, called DOW CORNING sealant, to seal the outer lens with the housing. Just like the following picture.
And use the machines to make the #outerlens and housing sticking together completely. It needs 8 hours.
On the other hand, we use the Germany brand, called HENKEL Loctite glue, to do waterproof part.
They won't have any water ingress problem happened again as long as we do these two parts perfectly, let's try what kind of glue of your suppliers doing now!
At this moment, maybe someone would like to ask how to distinguish the headlights are water ingress or condensate?
There is a very easy way to distinguish them. That is the watermark of the lampshade.
If there is some water inside of the lights. The water normally from the top entry and then flow to the below. It will form a very obvious traces of water flow. Even if the water is dry, there will also be some watermark, like a snail passing by. If the above of lampshade is still very clean but the below have some water vapor situation, then it is generally a normal situation of fogging. The water ingress situation always caused by poor sealant, which can not be eliminated easily. However, the fog situation is a physical phenomenon can be eliminated easily.
Therefore, if your headlight is fog condensation, you don't have to worry about that. However, if it is water ingress, please clear that what's going on happened to your lights, broken parts? seal? waterproof problems?
