A 1-Minute Strategy to Help You Do What's Most Important Today
Dear Essentialists,?
What’s the most important thing you need to do today?
This is the question Joanna Davey began asking herself at the beginning of every day on her quest to become an Essentialist.??
One day, Joanna received a phone call from her father. He told her that her mother had been hospitalized. There was no need to worry, he assured her. It was nothing serious.?
Joanna had a lot on her plate. It would be easier to continue on as planned and check on her mother in a few days.
But when Joanna stopped and asked the question, “What’s the most important thing I need to do today?” the answer was clear. Joanna made the trip.
This turned out to be a life-changing decision. Just a few days later, her mother’s condition unexpectedly worsened and she passed away.
Joanna later shared, “It could have been so different had I not been an Essentialist that day.”?
One of our most crucial tasks is to identify the things that really matter - and then do them.?
Asking the question, “What’s the most important thing I need to do today?” will help you sift out the essential few from the trivial many.?
It will help you stay focused on what is most important each and every day. It’s a simple change that will have an enormous impact.?

2 年What a great article to start my day, Greg! Indeed, this question often arises in everyone’s mind. In the past few years, the changes we saw have led to growing responsibility, it coud be fast life or covid19. All of this made us think about what is important in life and what defines the quality of life. For me, all these differ from person to person and matter of perspective.

2 年I totally agree with you! Every morning I always ask that myself. I always have a to-do list every day, and it helps me in being an organized individual and improves my time management skills. With the to-do list, I can immediately identify the tasks that are time-consuming.

2 年for me, my essentialist focus has been on sleep and mental health; by making it 'essential' it has also been 'effortless' ??
