The 1-Minute Reset

The 1-Minute Reset

Dear Essentialists,

Have you ever had a day where you were focused but then got one bad email that just popped your bubble of productivity?

What can you do to quickly get back to what matters most?

One useful tool is the 1-Minute Reset. Here's now:

1. Create a page full of positive truths about your life.

Examples include key accomplishments in your life, evidence that you have grown as a person, inspirational quotes, music you love, favorite memories, and photos.

2. When you start feeling crazy, or emotionally flooded, pull out your page and read it through for one minute.

As this last week again demonstrates, life can always surprise us, and sometimes dramatically. Whether on a global level or a personal level.

In this week's episode of the What's Essential Podcast, I was honored to speak with Thomas Dimitroff. Listen here

Dimitroff was the General Manager of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons until he was rather unceremoniously fired in 2020. He had spent his entire life in collegiate or professional football. Now he is on an unexpected path. In this episode, he pulls no punches in vulnerably sharing his experiences.

Listen to this episode if you want a reset in your life.

Thank you, really, for reading and listening, and being a part of the essentialist community.

Greg

p.s. I just launched the 21-Day Essentialism Challenge and I am absolutely thrilled to see hundreds and hundreds of people signing up from all over the world. A shout out to Mariana Lin (Sausalito, CA), Jann Schwarz (Brooklyn), Weronika Gasperczyk (Poland) and Srijan Shukla (India) to name four. Thank you!

There are two skills to practice/learn in this situtation: 1) Build stronger internal walls/recovery systems, and 2) Don't be the one sending these emails :D

Well said...as much as I practice mindfulness, this can happen to anyone!
