Some of the branding and website peeps are NOT going to like me for this one, BUT it IS the freaking truth. It's also one of the most perpetuated lies told online that is holding so many small business owners (especially women) back from selling their offers. So, what's is the #1 lie that is sabotaging your sales?
(Branding and website peeps scroll on down and you'll see I've got you covered because you are important).
That you can't sell your offer if you do NOT have:
? A website (or an updated one).
? Branding (or it's not put together enough).
? A logo.
? A sales landing page.
? An email list.
? Post 7 days a week, at the 'right' time of day.
? A group, Slack channel, podcast, or whatever the latest fad is.
? Perfect copy that is error and mistake free.
? A certain look or dress (or have certain looks/things that are not okay).
? Videos.
That if you don't have these things no one will see you as a 'professional' if you don't have these things - therefore, people will NOT buy from you. Which is a 100% LIE.
But wait Heidi. Aren't these things important to your business?
Yes, they are - WHEN you've sold enough of your offers to start becoming recognizable. AND to know yourself, your offer, and your people inside out.
Until then, they are simply busy work and roadblocks standing in the way of you focusing on what's really important - learning how to market and sell your offers in a professional manner. Read the blog I wrote about what professional is here.
Your branding changes over time as you grow, learn, and change. Just think about how you looked and acted in the beginning to now. Did you just cringe? I know I did.
But did you also sell your offers? I know I did.
Even most of the well-known brands started with crappy branding. And that's okay. Because they believed in what they had; they were able to grow into the recognizable brands they are today.
What you believe is possible, is what you can and WILL make happen. But unfortunately, many of you are holding yourself back because you believe the LIE. Instead, you're letting font colors, limiting beliefs, what others think of you, and the brain monkeys get in the way.
ALL you need to sell your offers is:
?? A strong belief with the skills, knowledge, and experience that you have an offer that can and will help people + you are the right person to do it.
?? People who have the problem you can solve + are willing to pay to solve it.
?? An action plan to competently get in front of people so that they KNOW you + the sales and marketing skills to close the deal.
The rest?
It’s all nice to have BUT it will NOT stop you from selling UNLESS you stop you from selling it.
Professional is subjective.
I started my landscape company with a K-mart riding mower and a tiny Toyota pickup truck, working in the yards of movie stars and billionaires in Landfall, Figure 8 Island, and Wrightsville Beach, NC.

I built a housecleaning business during the 2008 recession using a Craigslist ad, while wearing a tee-shirt and yoga pants (no one asked what I was going to wear or looked like).
For the past 3 years, I've sold offers ranging from $3K to 12K WITHOUT using my website, instead using a Google Doc, PayPal link, and consistent marketing on social media.
I've had clients sell WITHOUT a website, audience, or any branding, and only showing up 5 days a week on one social media platform (and watched other people do the same).
And I've watched plenty of other people reach 6 and 7 figures using similar methods.
How is that possible?
Because you don't need those things to sell your offers or to establish authority, credibility, or visibility on social media. They are nice to have but you don't need them.
People rarely run around saying 'I didn't work with such and such because they didn't have great branding.' Instead, they care IF you show up acting like a professional, delivering the promised solution.
But you do need a plan and consistent messaging that feels like YOU and covers your entire customer journey from intro to buying and beyond (selling doesn't stop at payment received). And you need to deliver professionally.
Now don't get me wrong - I'm NOT saying that branding or a put together look isn't important. They ARE.
But they can come later (or at the same time).
You CAN look professional and put together simply by using a consistent style of content and graphics, using a standard font (or even photos of yourself), with a well-developed social media profile. Then having things like contracts, an appointment setter, and a delivery system. That IS being a professional.
Looking and being professional doesn't have to be complicated or overthought.
It is okay to record videos using your phone.
And the HUGE advantage to all this?
When you focus on learning the skills to market and sell your offer while building an excellent reputation, you can then...
PAY a professional website developer, copywriter, editor, and branding expert to create your look with the money that is coming in. No DIYing.
YOU are the only one who stops you from selling.
So, STOP believing the #1 lie that is sabotaging your sales. And letting what other people think and say, your mindset and beliefs, and the brain monkeys keep YOU from believing in you and your ability to sell your offers.
And instead, start focusing on the things that truly matter so that you reduce stress and worry, creating financial freedom so that you make your goals and dreams happen.
How often has the fear or worry of not having one or more of these things gone through your mind as to the reason no one is buying your offers?
Let's talk about it in the comments. And please share this with anyone you know who is struggling under the weight of this lie.
??????????
Are you feeling frustrated because you've been consistently posting content on social media for months and still haven't signed a client (or you've signed a few but nothing consistent enough to take the pressure off)?
Heck you're hardly seeing any engagement, so you're starting to doubt your strategy is working.
I get how hard it can be to stay motivated and keep showing up when all the work you've been doing hasn't paid off, BUT...
What you're doing isn't wrong. You just need some tweaks and adjustments. Join The Client Connection to learn what they are so that you create consistent visibility, engagement, leads, and sales while showing up in the way that feels authentic to you.
