#1 Let Love Lead - Embracing Self-Leadership

Hey LinkedIn Family,

Welcome to my first-ever newsletter on #LinkedIn! I had been thinking about writing a newsletter for some time and I decided to embrace the unknown and not let self-doubt get in the way, but instead to #LetLoveLead.

Imagine waking up every day excited about the challenges ahead, feeling in control of your destiny, and leading your life with passion and purpose, feeling alive! What if I told you that the secret to this level of fulfillment lies in one simple, yet profound principle: Let Love Lead.

Self-leadership is the foundation of every successful journey, whether personal or professional.

It's about taking radical responsibility for yourself, and your actions, making conscious choices, and steering your life in the direction you desire. When we let love lead, we infuse our decisions with empathy, compassion, and a deep sense of purpose.

Think about the leaders you admire most. Chances are, they don't just command with authority and ego, but lead with their hearts. They love what they do, they inspire, uplift, and create an environment where people feel valued, seen, heard, and safe to be themselves. This motivates people to give their best and be intrinsically motivated. This is the essence of self-leadership, with love at its core.

What if you could lead yourself like that too?

Being inspired, uplifted and feeling safe and confident from the inside out, letting your heart and love lead the way?

6 steps to start on your journey to letting love lead the way

Here are 6 steps to start on your journey to letting love lead the way, in your personal or professional life. Get comfortable and reserve an hour for yourself, make a nice cup of tea, take out your pen, write in a journal, or your favorite notebook, or make notes online.

  1. To begin this possibly transformative journey, start with self-compassion. It is accepting who you are in this moment, with kindness and empathy, knowing you are doing your best. That doesn’t mean that you need to stay like this, but you start from a place of acceptance rather than resistance or self-criticism. You take responsibility for who you are at this moment.
  2. Look at your values or in case you don’t know them, start with discovering them for yourself. Your values are your inner guidance and compass, they are words that have a special meaning for you and state what is important to you; values make you the person you are.?Good News: if you subscribe to this newsletter, I will send you a self-guided workbook to start getting clear on them, it is transformative I promise you!
  3. Acknowledge your strengths, talents and gifts. Write down all the things you are good at, as a fact, you know this to be true and in the comfort of your privacy, be honest about all the things that you can do really really well.
  4. Make a list of what you would love, to do, to be, or to have and to create. Be unapologetic about the wishes you have. Do not judge them or label them as completely off or unrealistic. Write down your list with whatever you deeply desire, find at least 20 points and get your creative juices flowing.
  5. Take 10 minutes and go over your notes: look at your values, your strengths, your wish list, and really feel into what you have written down and listed. How does it feel? Feel all the feelings that come up for you and write them down.
  6. What is one thing that you could commit to as an action point to get a little closer to what is on the list? What would feel good right now? What might you already be doing? What could you start? Even small actions can create the in-roads to more joy and fulfillment in your life and work.

It truly is no rocket science to letting love lead in your life, we all have the capacity to do it and lead a more fulfilling and joyful life with ease. Reminding ourselves of this, is a great first step followed by regular practice.

How to practice letting love lead?

Save all the notes you took and make it an intention to visit them 1 x per week, perhaps make an appointment with yourself in your calendar. Remind yourself what you would love in your life and take inspired action to get closer to it, using your list as guidance.

Sounds do-able??

Many thanks for the smart recommendations.? I would like to build a bridge for anyone for whom the term "love" is too big. I recently read that love is the highest form of appreciation. This impulse has given me a new perspective on the term "love". Perhaps others feel the same way. That's why I'm happy to share it here.?

Marlies Hazelaar thanks for this great newsletter. Whoever met you in real life, like I did at work, would feel your positive impact even 10 times higher. ?? to answer your question: I let love lead by wishing and doing for others as I wish and do for myself and if something goes wrong by forgiving and continuing. It fills up your heart
