1-IN-1-MILLION MEANS VIRTUALLY NO-RISK FOR PESTICIDES !
PESTICIDE HARM ―
Prohibiting pesticides will prevent virtually no cancer-deaths.
These products will not cause harm.
People are killed by real carcinogenic products & activities, such as alcohol, sedentary behaviours, tobacco smoking, & unhealthy diet, but not by pesticides.
There are no pest control products that are known or probable carcinogens.
Pest control products are nowhere near a leading cause of cancer-death, & there is no chance that they will make you die of cancer.
PESTICIDES & LIFESTYLE CHOICES ―
Nonetheless, given that cancer is the leading cause of death, there is a good chance that you are going to die of cancer no matter what you do.
By contrast, pest control products are nowhere near a leading cause of cancer-death, & there is no chance that they will make you die of cancer.
Pesticides causing cancer is a myth.
So chill-out & have a drink, & forget about prohibiting pest control products.
While Canadians are living longer, it is important that they live longer in good health, & avoid the leading causes of cancer-death.
They must avoid lifestyle choices such as harmful use of alcohol, sedentary behaviours, tobacco smoking, & unhealthy diet.
VIRTUALLY NO-RISK OF CANCER ―
1-in-1-million = 0.000001 = 1.0 x 106, is often referred to as the 10-6 cancer risk for pest control products ― a very low risk ― virtually no-risk.
Potential human carcinogenic risks associated with chemical exposure are expressed in terms of an increased probability of developing cancer during a person’s lifetime.
For example, a 10-6 increased cancer risk represents an increased lifetime risk of 1-in-1-million for developing cancer, which is very low for government-approved & federally-legal pest control products ― 1-in-1-million-risk-of-cancer ― virtually no-risk.
This means that assuming daily exposure over a 70 year life-time that an individual would have a 1-in-1-million-risk-of-cancer above normal probability.
Overall, 2-in-5 Canadians are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, & 1-in-4 will die from cancer ― not because of pesticides.
Cancer incidence rates will be higher in eastern Canada & lower in western Canada.
Moreover, 2.7 million Canadians are now living with diabetes ― types 1 & 2 combined ― caused by unhealthy diet & sedentary behaviours.
10.7 per cent of Canadians are living with physician-diagnosed asthma ― caused by tobacco smoking.
15.7 per cent of Canadians aged-15-&-over exceed the low-risk drinking guidelines.
Sedentary behaviours are the 4th leading risk factor for mortality & linked to a number of chronic diseases, such as cancers, cardio-vascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, & diabetes.
By contrast, potential human carcinogenic risks associated with pesticide exposure is a mere 1-in-1-million for developing cancer.
