The 1% Improvement Rule
If you improve your skills by 1% per week, in a year, you’ll have improved well over 50% (especially when you include compounding).
If you improve your skills by 1% per day, in a year, you’ll have improved well over 365% (again, with compounding).
I love this rule for two reasons.
First, a 1% improvement feels incredibly doable.
You know that presentation you gave on Zoom? Could you get feedback on it, make some adjustments, and make it a mere 1% better? Of course you could.
You know that memo you wrote to your boss’s boss? Could you take out 1% of the words without changing its meaning and make it 1% more concise? Of course you could.
When you make these small improvements consistently with regular frequency, the cumulative effect over time is enormous.
The math is massively in your favor on this.
The key is to…
Always… be… improving.
Do this over an entire career, and you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve and where you end up.
