You sit at the same desk, day in and day out, performing the same activities and thinking to yourself,
?“I hate my job. I wish I could do something I truly love.”
Alternatively, maybe you are currently and still in school and contemplate about the moment when you get the perfect dream job that you always dream about. The one that made you promise that you would not settle for anything less than that.
Then life happens, and suddenly there are lots of bills to pay. You noticed that you are still thinking of that dream job while at the less job you settled for.
Why is it Important to Have a Dream Job?
People are continuously in pursuit of a dream job. But what is a dream job?
A dream job is one that fulfills you, encourages you, energizes you, and helps you follow your passion. For the majority of people, having a dream job is their ultimate goal. Nonetheless, getting there is a journey riddled with numerous obstacles.
Everybody always says, “Follow your dreams!” Nonetheless, not all do it.
Life interrupts, bills accumulate, and often you have to do jobs you do not like to do simply to make it through the day. Not all are aware, but you will find different reasons why you must follow your dreams. It might be because you follow your passion, to end the trend, or to live the life you have always dreamed of. Why follow your dream job?
For me, here are my own reasons what following your dream job does:
1. You deserve to be proud of what you do
There is nothing eviler than being asked by associates, family members, or simply guests questioning you what you do for a living than feeling uncomfortable and humiliated by the question itself. You might just want to be strapped on a jet pack and eject yourself from that bad situation.
Unemployment is possibly the worst thing. However, it's highly likely undesirable to give answers to these situations.
2. You control your life
No company policy, no bosses, no messy Christmas office parties that you feel are hindering you. Indeed, there are still bills you need to pay and errands to do, but you are in full control. This is how I felt when I was working with companies like LinkedIn, Amazon, my current role, etc that I am my own boss, and that I am in control of it!
You are not simply pursuing your dreams, but you have much control over when you want to work or where you could live. You have to reside adjacent to work and walk to the beat of someone else’s drum with the average nine-to-five job. Is that truly your desire?
3. You’ll regret it if you don’t try at least
Everybody understands what the guilt of not having gone for something that we desperately wanted feels like. Visualize what life would be like knowing that you don’t have the job you’ve dreamed of, but the fact you did not even try, at least.
In fact, a survey found out that 39 percent of individuals said they regretted not following their dreams. You are haunted by the understanding that most of what you think impossible could have been yours easily. No person deserves to live with that kind of guilt.
4. Working in a job you truly hate makes the days go very much slowly
Why must you work in a job you do not like? You will simply count the clock, you won’t perform great, and you will dread waking up every morning. As an alternative, why don’t you follow your dreams? Get thrilled about your day, and enjoy the entire process of doing the things you love.
People who follow their dream job are much happier. According to a study, the survey discovered that ninety-two percent of individuals who end up in their dream job are satisfied and happy in their work as an adult, leaving eight percent unsatisfied.
A recent survey conducted by SurveyMonkey proves that folks are satisfied at work than they’d anticipate, or they are massively excellent at tricking themselves one way or another. The poll found out that approximately one in five Americans say they have their dream job.
Take note that these folks were not questioned about a good – sufficient job, or even a job offering free food. They were asked about their dream jobs – seemingly the highpoint an individual could ever think of for their job. The moonshot achieved.
The Role of Having the Right Mindset
Always remember that the most vital factor affecting the success of a person is the mindset. What you think about continuously has a direct effect on your behavior. Therefore, you must get this vital component correct.
A seemingly tiny thing, which makes a big difference, is that mindset accounts for the major division between those people who flourish and those people who do not. You must learn to refine yours if you are serious about accomplishing success in any aspect of your life.
One of the reasons I am able to raise my standard to land jobs in these companies is because of the switch in my mindset that allows me to think that I can do it. Nothing is impossible and even the word it says “I’m Possible”
Mindset is vital to drive. It could urge you to challenge the status quo and push past comfort zones with the power to direct concentration and support commitment to a higher purpose. Individuals with the right drive are motivated, and they aim to achieve more.
Having the right mindset is where the rubber meets the road. Mental toughness is what distinguishes whether you will dig deeper and work through obstacles to flourish, or just claim setback. This is composed of providing self-talk to move through every pivotal stage, sustaining efforts over long periods, and practicing courage before achieving the essential goal.
One study conducted by Stanford University discovered that embodying the ‘growth mindset’ closes accomplishment gaps among students by thirty to fifty percent. Therefore, applying the said mindset has a strong impact on every aspect of life. It enables you to know your skills are fluid and dynamic. This suggests you could control your success and accomplishment through experience, effort, and learning.

Hey, thanks for reading this post up to this sentence. Now, I know you're probably wondering, "Why do you post this article?"
Well, I first started my career journey as a headhunter and the reason why I jumped into recruitment is that I didn't know what I want back then. I thought the best thing to do is to interview thousands of people, understanding their roles and industries. With this exposure, I was able to understand the mind of the recruiters, hiring managers, and years later had the privilege to be in various roles with top global companies.
I am forever grateful to all the people that came into my life and showed me that I have what it takes to pursue my goals. Today, I am on a mission to help driven & ambitious people to get in front of global leaders & world-changing companies.
If you think you have benefited from this sharing, I hope you can pay it forward by sharing this article and connect with me to always inspire each other. Stay tuned for more brewing on #rioslab. God bless!
